No need to switch, just apply for the other offer, too. But wait sixty days as Citi apparently has a policy of not processing an app if you have applied within the last sixty days (even if you got the card). I wonder about the legality of that under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, but I gues you want the miles, not a fight

I was under the impression that they only allow you to hold one type of each card (I have both personal and business now).

Applied for business card May 18, got card on May 29. My "consulting business" has very little verifiable about it, so I was surprised at the speed.

Yes, it was strange not getting some "confirmation" but just waiting for the mail.

A friend I encouraged to apply for the AA business card on May 18 got the card today (June 1) and is already well on the way to the $250 spend. I don't think there was very much to verify about the new business which was the basis of the card app.

I suspect that Citibank is a little backed up on the AA apps due to the rush from greedy Flyertalkers grabbing miles

AA Citi Card time to miles

I applied for a personal and business card with Citi for AA miles.
I recieved the card 10 business days after applying on-line. I used the card on the first day after I recieved it and got miles into my AA acount within 10 days. So approx 20 days after applying I had 15K x 2 (15K for personal, 15k for business card) in my AA account.
If it takes longer than 2 weeks to recieve your card give Citi a call and ask about your application status.

CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® MasterCard® questions (consolidated)

I recently got a AA Citi card, for the 25k bonus miles.

I could use a business card, and was looking at the AA Citi business. It also offers 25k miles, but only through June 30th. That's only a little over a month past my last card.

Has anyone gotten the business card this soon? I am not trying to 'churn' cards here, I would definitely use the business card... but would like to get 25k instead of 15k, or whatever they end up going to after the promotion.

Thanks

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I applied for both on the same day and received both on the same day a couple of weeks later.

Nothing wrong with churning. In any event, you can get a personal and a business card by applying for both the same day. I have a friend who did it recently.

Are people 'churning' business cards? Don't you need a EIN number?

It sounds like people are getting business cards for personal use, and don't own a business. From reading the terms, it sounds like this isn't allowed but is not punished (?)

You already have your EIN number. Just use your SSN and leave out the dashes. Should go right through.

As far as getting a business card without being in business. Most everyone already has a business or two or four already going. Maybe you have yet to make a profit or even take in any income, but haven't you always planned to be an artist in someway. Or perhaps a woodworker? Or maybe a gardener, so far only practiced on your yard.

Very unlikely that the bank cares at all, so long as you promise that your use of the card is for "business". Do note that you give up substantial consumer protection by using a business card, so I suggest you get one, get the bonus miles and then put it in the to be canceled in six or more months file.

Be sure have a card for each of your many businesses. Helps with accounting. And miles.
