Recently my attempt to transfer miles failed and upon manual review they refused to complete it to a third party. I was offered to either get my miles back or transfer to my account. Obviously $30 was non-refundable.
YMMV.

Hmm did you get a sense this was an anti "fraud" () issue- as in to prevent bartering?

Not really, they just told me that transfers to someone else's account are not allowed. IMO their own T&Cs are not very clear on that. I made a successful transfer last year so I'm not sure why this one failed.
I don't see how it prevents bartering - people can simply book stays for someone else if needed.

YMMV.
If they refused the transfer, why would they get to keep the $30?
If they don't want the miles transferred into someone else's account, they should give you first and last name lines on the transfer form.

Hey folks, quick question - how long does the transfer take? The fine print on AA.com says it can be five days...just wondering if it's actually immediate, and the '5 day' talk is merely CYA language....thanks for any info.

I've never had a five day wait and I've transferred a lot of miles to points, usually it is more like 24 hours.

It let me transfer a second 100K miles

Yes, I know that it says 150K miles per person/per year. I did 100K earlier (from each of our accounts to the same HH account) with no problem. I decided to try another 100K from my account, and it took the transaction. If the limit is really 150K/year, I assume that I'll get tripped up on this somewhere down the line.

Has anyone tried this- do they just move the 50K, or cancel the whole transaction?

Cheers.

I've transferred more than 150,000 points in the past year - but from different AA accounts into one HHonors account.

Oh, we've done that already. 100K from my account and 100K from mrs. brp, for 400K total HH points. That was no problem.

Just wondering what's going to happen with the second 100K from my account (before I try with hers). I have a feeling it could fail, but wanted to know how it will go down

Cheers.

Actually, that will be NYE and we'll be on a train until 3:45AM, so that night won't be too bad for eviction

Cheers,

Bruce

Actually, all reservations booked before Jan. 15 (even for dates after that) go under the old structure, AFAIK. So, we'll have some trips in Jan and Feb (plus an April/May Waldorf stay for only 40K points/night) and want to book under the old rules.

Even with the devaluation, though, we have way more miles than we would ever use (and they keep accumulating), so it still means free hotel rooms.

Cheers.
