Well, in those cases, one would pay Orbitz/Expedia the fee, no? And, in those cases, the 250 mile bonus wouldn't have mattered before anyhow. Still no behavior change IMO.
Who says they don't add up? I fly unfortunately 52 weeks a year which is an extra 26K miles annually. This helped me reach lifetime gold already and approaching lifetime platinum. Obviously it's a free domestic ticket every year as well. I think for frequent flyers this is a significant loss. I ONLY booked on aa.com for the bonus as opposed to my companies travel website which pulls up other vendors besides American. I will start using the company tool now and ultimately AA will lose some business from me. Nice job AA!

bummer yeah
but no biggie on my end, 80% of my travel goes via AX travel for work and the remaining 20% usually has a VDB or something similar where I have to call in and seldom get the bonus anyway so I'm not missing much anyway

an EXP flying other carriers because of 26k "lost" miles? wow. enjoy your status-less existence on other carriers whenever you would normally be utilizing the myriad of benefits that come with being a top tier elite. being EXP is like many other things - you don't fully realize the significance until you need it and don't have it. even if you maintain EXP status while flying other carriers, AA won't help you get unstuck when Delta or United is holding that day's BP.
more X inventory for me...

Color me impressed with your abilities. I can't even find my own posts with this sorry thing IB calls search.
I'm starting to agree with brp. It ain't that bad. If they could just fix a few of the remaining bugs, it might be ready for prime time. It's not quite there yet, though.
