On the topic of re-qualification, for the past two years i've done about 65,000-75,000 miles, obviously coming up short of EXP but well over the PLT requirements.
My 2008 mileage will probably be similar, so I'm left debating whether the cost and time of approximately 25,000 worth of MR's is worth insuring EXP for 2009 (especially since I would probably have to do another 25,000 worth of MR's next year to keep EXP, given my annual travel seems to constantly fall around 75,000).
I just wanted to throw the question out there -- whether EXP vs. PLT is worth the time / money in my circumstance -- so I can throw in at least one MR this Spring if necessary.
Thanks for the insight......
If you're happy being PLT, don't go for EXP. Once you get it, you'll never want to go back, and then you'll have to find those extra 25K miles year after year ...

I've considered sinking some $$ into running for EXP this year I enough planned travel I could pull it off with an extra MR or two then bank the benefits for EXP as the other airlines ramp up like UA and their new F&J and VX comes online more then I'd be in a better position about choices. My biggest complaint is no mainline into my hometown coast to coast service for me has seen AA pulling out of options for me to get home and making the most of my PLAT benefits and with aging parents it's meaning more and more travel home.
