(2) Since my plan departure time for flight 1262 leaves DCA earlier than the departure time for 1262 from MIA, would I get the upgrade over other PLTs getting on the plane in MIA? That might actually be an advantage. If the DCA->MIA segement is available, and a single seat is available all the way through (see question 1), then I should get the MIA->TPA...what do you think?

Thoughts?
With no repsonses, it would appear I'm forging new ground on this one. I'll try to find out and report back...

I've got a MR planned to push me to PLAT for next year. I've just noticed that I've got DCA-STL and STL-DFW listed as AA1083. They are showing up as 2 flights in my reservation. Will this mean I'll get credited from both?

If DCA-DFW gets credited I'll end up with 49,962 YTD EQM. But if DCA-STL-DFW gets credited I'll have PLAT for another year and 50,039 YTD EQM.

Typically you only get the point-to-point miles for direct flights (not to be confused with non-stop), however some have reported here that calling AA yielded some success with getting the actual miles flown.

My suggestion is to call AA but don't be too surprised if you only get the credit for DCA-DFW. Honestly the difference is so slight you might squeak by, but it would be easy enough to make up since there's so much time left in the year (assuming you can wait to requalify as PLT).

good luck
