Citi AAdvantage (personal) MasterCard questions (consolidated)

I recently signed up for a Citi Mastercard to take advantage of the AA promotion for 20k miles and a free companion certificate.

The 20k miles are made available once $250 has been charged to the account. The promotion literature indicates that the miles will be deposited in the AA account within 8-10 weeks of meeting this requirement.

I'm curious ... What are your experience with this promotion? How much time did it take you to receive your miles?

I am in desperate need of the bonus miles for award travel I plan to take in early April. I am wondering if it's worth holding out for, or if I should simply purchase a ticket for the flight.

Apologies if this has been addressed previously. I have searched the forum and didn't find any posts on the topic.

Thanks,
-flandis

Two weeks has been my experience as well.

Also, topic-wise, it's amazing what a simple question mark could help...

Hate to say it, but mine came about 6-8 weeks after $250 was spent. I was very frustrated. Good Luck!!!

It depends which card specifically. The AMEX has taken the longest, and the Business card the least. I have spent $250 within the first statement with Business and received the 20k miles within 3 day's of that statement, on amex 2-3 months. I don't have enough experience to know if this is 100%, I would tell you to expect it 2 statements after the spend, worst case.

i have had them usually post at the due date of my first payment--they will not post until you pay the first 250$ NO MATTER WHAT THEY TELL YOU

I received my Citibank credit card the last week of October 2006. My miles posted to my AA account on November 16th 2006.

Citi CC MC, posted the same day as the miles for the statement that crossed the $250 threshold, before it was paid.

That's exactly what my experience was last November. I passed the $250 threshold with spending at the end of October; my statement closed mid-November and they posted both the normal monthly miles for that statement and the 20K bonus on the same day.

I glossed over this section of the OP at first. If you're looking to travel in early April, are you currently holding seats? You can hold an award seat for 14 days for free and hope that the miles post. If there are no longer awards seats available, you'll probably need to go ahead and buy now, or run the risk of fares getting even higher...
