eVIPs out of Paris -- Upgrade / Luxury Tax like London?

I saw something in a thread a few days ago that gave the impression that using an eVIP on flights out of Paris would incur an "upgrade tax" similar to the one you face on premium travel out of London.

I tried to search but due to limitations on "CDG" and "tax" I was unable to find anything which gave a yes or no answer.

Can someone enlighten me on this?

Thanks,
Greg

Yes there is. It was $49.10. I paid only a few weeks ago with one-way eVIP upgrade.

Looking before you post also says a lot.

This thread about CDG departure tax just happened to be on the very very first screen today.

Yes there is a tax, no it's not as hefty as London (I think).

I paid the same amount in early October. Don't know if it's pegged to the Euro, or is a fixed dollar amount. If the former, it's probably even higher now!

fwiw, UA doesn't charge the fee in either Paris or London. I just upgraded a UA ex-Paris flight yesterday.

I paid $41.40 on 11Oct. Sounds like it's about 30 EUR.

Are the fares competitive with AA on the same routing? If so, a definite plus for UA if they're eating the cost.

Cheers.

Sort of OT, but FWIW, I think FRA is still "tax free". If you're thinking on a winter MR, I'd shift German.

Paris departure tax is an additional 1-40 euros, depending on destination and cabin class. Premium cabin pax pay the 40 euros.

Question

Is the tax paid as a part of the ticket/award cost + taxes OR is this tax collected at the airport prior to departure?
