That is incorrect....An 800 number see's all numbers regardless of whether you are calling from a blocked number or not. Sorry, your idea won't work.
This couldn't be true could it? What happened to privacy - especially in the case where you have explicitly taken steps not to reveal your phone number!

I tried using Search (honest!) to find a recent thread that discussed this issue, where I also posted a link to an article that stated, iirc, that they were ultimately intending to use this system to allow flight check-in as well. For now, we can certainly say "it's baack!"

All that you can block with *67 is Caller ID - the consumer technology that tells you who is calling. Any company that has a reasonable number of phone lines is going to get ANI data in the signalling when the call is set up on one of their trunks, which can not be blocked. This is especially true for the WATS numbers (800,866,877,888) since the company is paying for your call.
Now on the EXP line, we have to wait an extra 20 seconds between keying "2" and providing your AAdvantage number, while being forced to listen to the virtues of the new system. Who is Bella Goren? She deserves to be fired.
The numbers should access different stuff..
How many of us don't know you can buy tickets, check gates (many times wrong) etc online ...
Bad thing is I've checked online, called in, and still had the TERMINAL change at DFW all within parking the car and walking into the Terminal.. ugh...

The receiver pays for 800 number calls. They have a right to know what they're paying for.
I just called from my cell. It recognized me and said "I see you have multiple reservations, can I help you with any of those?" I just said "agent" and was connected immediately. Even less work than the old way when I had to enter my AAdvantage number. It will be less convenient from my non-recognized phone, but this was very, very nice.
Check this out - I fly a lot and American launched a great new service today that made my airport run this morning easy. When I called the Plat #, the system asked if I wanted to enroll in Remember Me. I did and then it provided my flt info - i didn't even have to ask!! Very nice feature...

Welcome to FT!
Not everyone agrees.
EDIT: This thread was combined with another thread that shows that there are several differing opinions out there.
This thread has been consolidated with one other, and may grow in the future - it seems reasonable to this mod to keel the discussion easy to find, and it has so far been both negative and positive. I have restored ESpen36's original title to maintain the OP's intent.
My apologies for any possible disturbance - I did want to do this quickly before we had several long threads, making a merger impractical and / or confusing.
Mod.

Ever the optimist, I signed up for the Remember Me feature. I then called back and was informed that there was a schedule change for an upcoming flight and it would connect me to an agent. I was surprised that I hadn't received an email notification of the change, but let it connect me to the agent. She informed me that there was no schedule change. Her best guess is that it has to do with my pending upgrade request for the flight.
I called back and it again said there was a schedule change and connected me to an agent. What I need now is the "Forget Me" feature...
This was the post (following,) which when I moved it, brought it up as the first post - so I deleted it in both locations and left this in its place. The other thread is "AA Phone Prompt Bypass / Tips and Tricks."
Thanks, dstan!
"Slightly OT, with the recent announcement of an IATA agreement for airlines to standardize e-checking using cellular 'phones, I suspect the "know me" routine will change and become useful in other ways. Under the new system, we will be able to be able to receive a barcode on our registered cellular phone, which we will then be able to show the phone screen at the gate (I can only wonder how long it will take the TSA to agree to this...) and board after the GA scans your barcode.
