How much are you willing to pay for the tickets? You can probably get A fares, PHL-IAD-SAN or PHL-IAD-ORD-SAN for about $1000 and about 8000 EQPs. Do one Saturday and one Sunday.

Budget is <$1000 for all of 'em. That knocks out a bunch of possibilities, but I'm thinking maybe a Friday out to the west coast, then one of the low west coast W fares to Europe... just curious if there were any other good point runs. Sitting on 6 VIPs (and would earn 8 more) so Intl isn't a problem. Don't want to do DEL of PVG since those are difficult upgrades. NRT was 4k for a same day return.

Done PVG once, DEL 5 times. Never not been upgraded.

Thoughts on segments ...?
I have exactly the right # of segments scheduled between now and 27 Dec to hit 100 ...
I'm thinking of doing an MR to ensure it's 102+ total, just to avoid having to beg for original routing credit should something go pear-shaped. After a bit of sorting out (mostly because I'd never dealt with it before) I was able to get unflown segments credited after weather/maintenance forced reroutes, but it seems imprudent to try to negotiate for that 100th segment after 31 Dec 07 ...
cheers!

Agreed!
And also on EQMs. I had YVR-ORD-MSP on AA and they cancelled the flight. They put me on NW on YVR-MSP nonstop and only credited my miles as the nonstop (yup and one segment).
Cutting things that closely makes good sense to build in a little fudge factor. I will be passing 100k EQM right after Thanksgiving on the way to NRT .. so agree with you that those few extra segs/miles/points are a definate 'plus' just in case!

I definitely recommend the West Coast "slingshot" to Europe approach. You might need to play around with routings a little, maybe PHL-LAX-ORD-DUB or something similar. I was able to get DFW-SFO-ORD-FRA and back over Thanksgiving last year for about 4 cents per mile, so I think it could definitely be done within your budget.
You might want to post your ? in the Mileage Run Discussion forum as well with the reference to AA in the title to get some more advice.
In previous yrs AA have helped FFers out when they are short by as few miles as you seem to be. If yo are lucky they may offer it again. Keep your fingers crossed or nimble to grab the next cheap MR you can find.
Good Luck

(smile) I'm not going to risk EXP for the sake of 104 miles. I'll find a cheap ticket somewhere.
My currently planned travel puts me at 99,896 at the end of the year.
Time to start watching for cheap DCA-ORD or JFK...
If you are within 1000 miles of EXP, you will retain your status for next year. It is one of those unpublished policies.
However, since it is unpublished anything can happen. Here is my advice:
Call aadvantage customer service now and see if this policy is still in effect. A supervisor should be able to confirm it for you. If so, then ask them to document what they have told you into your account. That way there will be a record of your conversation in the event you hit a bump in the road.
Having said that, many people on FT would not risk losing the benefits of EXP and would plan on a MR just to be sure of their status for next year.
Your choice. My personal opinion is that you will be fine if you call, confirm the policy and have it documented in your account.
I like the OP's attitude. There is no reason to encourage more people whining about 104 or 1,104 miles short. The OP wants to do it right, God bless him.
