I will state again that I was told by AA that the policy for the upcoming year is a round up if you are within 200 miles. Has anyone else had a conversation with AA about this?
I haven't seen that anywhere (but I'm sure it's possible someone else had a similar conversation). However, because it seems unlikely it will be that same agent making the decision next year, I still wouldn't risk my status based on that statement.

I decided not to chance it...decided to take a day trip BOS <-> LGA next weekend with my wife (heck, we'll do some last minute holiday shopping).
Imo a good decision. You'd have to listen to us tell you "I told you so" for at least a year if you didn't happen to get rounded up. This way we'll have to find someone else to pick on.

I agree... a year's worth of group one only is not worth 100 bucks imho.
FT ribbing is just an added bonus!

EQM for Compensation?
(sorry - can't search on "EQM" and it's easier to ask than to read fourteen pages of compensation anecdotes)
Does AA ever award EQM for compensation? I had a particularly crappy travel day today (induced by mechanical failure), and since I'm 900 miles short of EXP... :-D
Other than original routing credit including EQMs, which isn't really compensation, I've never heard of this happening. That said, having gotten 16,000 miles worth of other compensation this year, I wish it did! Might have gotten me close enough to EXP to at least have thought about a mileage run.

I dare you to fly these 900 miles asap !
They only give EQM for something like a rerouting and thats called original routing credit then.
Book a roundtrip to the nearest city, spend 100$ and dont give something on AA's customer service or how generous they might be. It might work better once you are EXP... but dont risk it.
If you're flying AA then they usually give you elite status even if you fall short - I think it's 500 short for gold (e.g. 24,500) and 1,000 for PL and EP (e.g. 49k and 99k).
I just had a 3 hour delay on one of my last flights. It was long enough of a delay, that I decided to drive home, AA gave me the original routing credit (EQM and all) since they delay was for maint.
This was just regular credit though, I didn't get anything extra.
So unless your crappy day resulted in you flying or driving a different way than you originally paid for, and the original route would have given you the 900EQM, I'd say, book another short trip and get the EQMs..

Too big of a gamble, considering you can get 900 EQMs for a short SAT-DFW trip for less than $100. Other airports offer similar routes.
I'd hate to fall 900 EQMs short. Just book it..

There are a # of threads on this topic that indicate the #s you cite are incorrect. Here is one:
Ultimately, the problem with counting on the round up is that the decision is not made until January - at which time its too late to do anything about.
To the OP - EQM are not awarded as compensation (unless it is an issue of original routing credit). If you want to be sure to make it to EXP this year, fly the 900 miles.

Issues outside of my control have forced me to cancel my 60 and 61 sement Dec 30 so I will be short one segment.
Whon should I contact to request a exception.
Appreciate any suggestions
Thanks
