Uh, as mentioned he was talking about his family, so I think the numbers are pretty accurate. He'd need at least 100 (well, 67 if you want to round down) to match your numbers. Not likely.

Cheers.

You have to credit exquisited with lurking for since August 2006.

One thing we can consistently say about Search, is it's inconsistent. Sometimes you have to try different approaches, being sure to include any three character search in quotation marks, and maybe use the alternatives listed in the sticky if you are serious.

I'm with shadesofgrey1x here as far as the guessing games - and I don't much strain my brain trying to figure out the rest (EXP, CK, etc.) In the end, flying is a bit like pregnancy - I either get my upgrade, etc. or I don't. (And you get the swollen ankles, too.

I am unclear on this response. I wasn't guessing. I gave accurate numbers for the 4 people in the study.

Yep. I would need a whole compound for a family of that size.
Then I could get the girls to have that neat hairstyle.

But, as mentioned by my fellow poster a sample size of 4 is not a valid statistical sample size. 100 is the rule of thumb minimum.

Small sample sizes yield odd skews. Consider a household with a 90yr old and his infant grand son of 6 months. Average age of male house hold members 45.25 years. By marketing standard, the average male in this household, they should be looking into retirement products and the trophy wife syndrome.

The only time I've seen this mentioned on FT, it referred to a link on AA's Ireland website, the contents of which don't appear to have been updated in many years.

Here's the link:

Stats are in the 4th paragraph "Executive Platinum / Platinum/ Gold Status"

While search is not as good as it used to be, it is still usable, IMO, just takes more work.

You are astounded, I am not. Poorer search = more threads for frequently asked questions = more posts responding to those threads with the same answers = more page views = more money for IB. By their actions shall ye know them.

I'd actually toyed with the idea that this was intentional. Search used to be better...now it isn't. It would take talent to make it this bad. Torn between "enough talent for the job" and, probably, the real answer.

Cheers.

Thankfully, a few of the search problems I've passed along have now been fixed, such as the ability to find the Compensation Guide when searching for, of all things, compensation.

One reminder for all: If the search is ignoring one of your terms, you can enclose it in quotes and force the term to be considered. A recent example was the inability to find the Value of AAdvantage Miles thread when searching value mile. It does come up (at least after I reported it) if you search "value" or "value" "mile"

Perhaps it's me, but I gave up on the search long ago. I just use Google for everything with "<search term(s)> site:flyertalk.com". It usually performs well, and will even search 3 letter terms.
