As an update:
as I've been given the credit for starting this thread, I am still averaging over 120,000 AA miles a year thanks in great part to the advice on FT and most especially this topic.
Let me count some of the ways: flying, AA-IDine, AA-eshopping, Tom Thumb AA miles at 1 for $, various bonuses I find out about on this topic such as Bose and a few miles given to me as gifts. And of course donations made to charities such as the USO and Komen Foundation via the AA WEB site.
As the amount of company travel we're doing has been reduced, I've made up the slack with more shopping and dining.
Thanks to all who have helped me along the way. I do appreciate it. And it has been FUN.
My flying took a sudden decline and it wasn't look good for my 1MM goal. Thanks to various deals learned on FT I reached the 1MM level. I was able to obtain 520,000 miles this year from flying, coins, bank accounts, stock account, credit card churning and spending. I'm not planning on going for 2MM, but taking some nice vacations.
Just made the 1 million - 5 years all UK-USA and all on my own money on vacations
Congratulations - I'm figuring that on average a EXP/PLT would get around 20k miles from every coach round trip UK/US so you must have somewhere in the region of 10 vacations each year.
