Just checking ....

In July 06 the OP states they have 'about 44k miles' and were debating the benefits of a Citi AAdvantage card with the 25k bonus miles .. and the OP was asking about earning the extra 6k miles.

Looks like the advice given back then was not taken .. so not certain advice now will be taken either....

How about this:

I need 1.2 million miles fast and cheap. Anybody have any bright ideas they are hiding from the gobs of posts already generously waiting for me to read through?

Don't use the miles. Buy the ticket to wherever you are going and you'll get your account balance up.

Go to the Non-Air Mileage section of the AA wiki for a list of ways to earn some miles without flying.

But the cost isn't $650.
It is costing 45000 of your miles, 15000 of your friend's miles, plus $650, PLUS the lost of miles not earned on the trip, plus mileage lost toward upgrades, etc

Where are you going? From where?
What class?

What is the rush towarded a 75K award, instead of waiting until you can earn 75K?

Need 2200 Miles STAT!

Hey folks,

My wife and I are turning in our AA miles to go on one last blowout trip to San Francisco and Napa before we have kids. I just booked the award tickets, now I'm about 2200 short of getting a big hotel award.

I would appreciate any suggestions. Worst case I think I can swap some from my wife's account, but the transfer costs are ridiculous - $80 for 3000 miles!

Thanks for your help,

John

You're using AA miles for a hotel award stay? (gotta go re-read the AA site, don't recall that bit before).

And at 1st glance - $80 bucks, for what I'm guessing will be a nice 3-4 day weekend stay - ain't too shabby.

(edited to add) - just saw one can use aavacations to redem miles for partial hotel award stays...

Buy the points for even more, buy $2200 of something with an AA credit card, or fly 2200 miles. Or buy items with points attached, e.g. AA dining, FTD flowers, online AAdvantage shopping, etc. What sort of source were you thinking of? For less than a whole $80 that is.

spend the 80 bucks - while you can get something for almost nothing, it still costs something...

IgoUgo

If you want the 2200 miles and don't want to put any money out, consider writing around 20-40 reviews for IgoUgo. I worked at writing IgoUgo reviews for one week and recieved 5,000 miles for less than ten hours of work.

Check out more about IgoUgo in the SPAM section.

You can get 2250 miles for getting a "Gold" membership on Points.com. That'll only set you back $49.95.

I don't recommend using AA miles for a hotel, unless I am turnng in AA miles in for the Elite 150K or 175K point 6 night offesr from Hilton

Enroll in TrAAvelPerks for 2500 miles if you're into that thing.
Get NetFlix for 1500 miles.
Otherwise, eat a $220 dinner somewhere with the Dining program (considering you have 5+5 on that program).
