That was not a sarcastic remark. It just makes more sense to go to the source first, rather than to ask others to speculate.
I didn't want others to speculate, I wanted an actual account, if one was available. When the agent actually picked up the phone, I wanted all the available facts. What is so wrong with that?
To update, they said no, they couldn't replace them. I had a guess that they would say this, but I'd posted while on the phone to know whether it was worth asking for a super, or calling back. Unfortunately, doesn't seem as though anyone had a similar experience (because they are probably less absent minded than myselef, and don't leave things in rental cars while running to standby for flights that have no running water in F, and also are likely where I picked up the stomach flu, not that I'm bitter or anything like that).
Why did not having running water cause you stomach flu?
Didn't you just ask the FA for a bottle of water, or use some other method for cleaning your hands?

I came down with the flu later in my trip, I don't think it had anything to do with the water on the plane (used the Y lav), rather something that got passed through the recirculated air. Just kicking myself all the more for standing by for that flight. That will teach me, when upgraded to F, leave well enough alone . And, sorry if the thread upset anyone, it was a hasty attempt to possibly have a one-up on whomever answered the phone when it was picked up, in case there was some trick that neither I nor they knew about with these, really.

Makes sense. Friendly advice: lay it all out in the OP. Otherwise it makes you look dumb (no offense intended).
Not trying to tell you what to do, but I would have said: "Hey, I lost my companion certs and I'm on hold with Citibank. Anyone have any first-hand experience with trying to get them replaced?" You have thousands of posts; you should know the drill.

Since the second pax is booked in a miles-earning inventory, I would bet it earns miles--the two for one is a discount, not an award. Call AA to confirm. In any case, make sure you have the second pax's AAdvantage number in the record; something might slip through.
From my recent experience, they do in fact earn mileage. My wife and I used a companion cert. for a flight last week and the miles for the outbound leg of our trip posted to her account yesterday at the same time as mine.
When we flew 2 for 1 on BA we both earned miles. How about on AA?
Doesn't say on the cert.
You dont accrue miles on a free travel certificate with AA.
If the companion is booked into an eligible booking code to accrue miles, they will, which is part of the conditions of the certificate itself.
