Advantage account LOCKED after selling a voucher on eBay!
Here is the story...
I had recieved a couple vouchers (5) which I never would have used... valid for a domestic upgrade from a full-fare economy class ticket.
I placed the things on eBay, and sure enough... my Advantage account was frozen.
I spoke to the AA rep who froze my account, and he explained to me that I had to get all 5 of the certificates back to him. After buying all of the certificates back from the people I sold them to (and having to pay a pretty penny to do so as they really did not want to part with the vouchers), I overnighted all of the vouchers back to AA.
I know as a fact they received my package on the 28th -- though my account is still frozen. Does anyone have any experience with this matter?

Not to get preachy, or anything, but that's why I'd only use Coupon Connection here on FT, or find a friend that you can swap them with. I've seen too many horror stories about people losing hundreds of thousands of miles because they wanted to make a few bucks on some vouchers.

Apparently AA has an officer in their corporate security department who checks eBay all the time. I hear that eBay will offer up any information about a buyer/seller if he/she is suspected of illegal activity -- though I don't think there is any "law" that restricts one from bartering airline perks...

Thanks
Are you feigning outrage about this for some reason?
You must have know what you were doing was explicitly and specifically against AAdvantage rules-- how could you not?
Now, you're at their mercy, no one here can help you.

Just a quick comment on this part -- if it arrived on the 28th, its likely that no one would have looked at it until Friday--the Friday of New Year's weekend, right after Christmas. I'm not sure what American Airlines Corporate is like during this week, but especially since you've apparently involved their corporate security department, I certainly wouldn't have expected anything from them until after the New Year. You're not just dealing with the standard AAdvantage Customer Service, you're dealing with their fraud department.
And, BTW, the folks that lock AAdvantage accounts -do-, in fact, read FT (among the very last of AAdvantage folks that do)-- I wouldn't post about this here if it were me under any circumstances. YMMV.
So let me get this straight. You broke the rules and got your UA account locked. Then instead of learning your lesson you did the same thing with AA and got that account locked.

I wouldn't be recommending Coupon Connection in that way; it is no more legitimate a place to offer them than ebay from what I can tell
Whether awards et al are offered for cash or offered for other goods, it's still in breach of AAdvantage rules
Yeah, I ticked off United, but I moved out of their territory. I will not sell upgrades anymore for obvious reasons, but I am ready to work on a new venture to assist people like yourselves with your travel.
So, the new venture was to move from illegally selling United stuff to illegally selling American stuff. Why are you even posting this here???
