My fiance and I have just completed the Platinum challenge during our oneworld explorer trip. None of the flights were on American so far, but we´ve got some to look forward to.
Our last flight was on LAN in January so they counted the fact we applied before they changed the rules about flying AA metal.
Anyone know if we will be able to use the Business lounges in our North American segments? I understand it´s only for when you have international segments - which we do later in the year on the same reservation...
I made EXP on Saturday after completing 2 MRs.
Thanks FT!
I was about 600 quality points sort as of Dec 28 last year, so I scheduled a quick trip to Dallas and back (there was at least one other person on the flight doing the same thing according to the gate agent.
Much to my surprise, Miss America was sitting in my row in first class. Not only did I get EXP, I got to meet Miss America (what a smile!!!).

(Better late than never in answering this one.)
Access to North American lounges for Plats and Exec Plats is only available on the same day as an international oneworld flight.
Actually, you can't get that close to her. She travels with a 'handler' who's another very attractive woman, perhaps 40 or so. Even though Miss America was assigned the aisle seat (I saw her boarding pass while waiting in the security line), the handler took the aisle seat and put MA in the window seat. She also sat most of the flight (as well as the boarding process) leaning forward to block access. I guess it would take too long to board the plane if Miss America were in the aisle seat.....
Anyway, when we left the plane, I was on the opposite side and stepped aside to let Miss America go by. You can see why she won - the smile she flashed at me for letting her go first would have melted stone.
That's about as close as I'll ever get to royalty.....

Don't see why the just don't fly her from point A to point B in curlers, no make-up, and Earth shoes (and something equally hidious in-between). No one would bother her at all, if that's what they want.

You don't think her inner beauty would still shine through?
Well it looks like I have the dubious honour of being the first person to make EXP this year, or at least the first to shout about it on here!
14 Transatlantic flights, 6 "visits" to the US, one MR, and 8 stamped entries have all provided 100,761 EQMs in just 41 segments over a 4 month period.
Its been pretty crazy, and I fully blame FlyerTalk and in particular the not so subtle provocations to make EXP in almost every other thread found on this forum!
Sadly I'm probably not going to get the chance to get back to the USA at all this year, so I won't get to enjoy the full extent of EXP, but the First lounge access when flying BA should make everything seem worthwhile until the flying madness starts again to the US in the winter.
