If ANYONE is ever looking for Mileage Run company, Sonora rocks. And, we seriously need to pursue the "perks" of having an AAdmirals Club Bartender in our ranks!

Just finished qualifying for the 125K EXP + 2 extra eVIPs thing. HUGE thanks to FT for all the tips, hints, etc. along the way!

We made it........"TOO"

Greetings:

Had to put my two cents in............My wife and I made it this past weekend on a SYD-BKK-LHR Flight (Longgggg) It took us 34 flights in all......thanks to FT the flights, for the most part ,went well as did the many, many suggestions we picked up from FT.

I am about to put the finishing touchs on our effort to keep Ex Plat in 2008, being in our mid 70's having FT to check for clubs that are open, seats that are soft (Flat?), airport short cuts and so on is a God send.

So, now to see how ExPlat works

Once again a thanks to all at FT.

I took my qualifying flights on December 4, and my status finally changed on December 8. I made it on segments:

YTD Elite Qualifying Points: 69,531

YTD Elite Qualifying Miles: 98,579

YTD Elite Qualifying Segments: 101

On December 11, I called AA to use 4 of my VIPs to upgrade us to/from Europe in March. I love being an EXP!

I am taking one more trip on AA this year, so I will make it on miles as well.

I just made to EXP on my way to Easter Island. How do I check e-VIP balance on aa.com? Thanks in advance.

You don't. Either wait for the monthly update to arrive via e-mail, or call the EXP desk and confirm they are in your account.

Wow...AA's' moving on this. Already got the new cards & luggage tags.
OK...time to start planning how to earn it again
Methinks there's a holiday weekend or two coming up in January or Febuary that is begging for a good long-haul...

A little late booking?

I already have two $337 base fares into London and home from Zurich for Jan and Feb. One of those will be in conjunction with the London Do that SkiAdcock hosts on President's Weekend. Maybe you can come over for that (though the $250 in taxes/upgrades will be a killer..I only paid $96 because I return home from ZRH).

If I was on Easter Island, my VIP balance would NOT be one of the top things to be concerned about

I would have booked a long time ago if I had the cash in hand to do so
I'm looking into the more intriguing Morocco & Spain options being toyed around with on the MR forum.

If it's convenient for you, I'd suggest looking into switching to one of the SkyTeam members--particularly Continental. With 50k a year, you'd earn Gold on Continental, which, IMO, trumps Platinum on AA.

Cotinental Gold is better, unless you want to use your elite status to actually get upgraded and fly in first class - but Continental does offer elites a spiffy blue carpet to board upon in lieu of upgrades.
