How did you cross the Million Mile mark?
I know most here hate the self-congratulatory "I just passed 1MM" threads, so I'll try to make mine a bit more interesting.
Last night I flew home, LGA-DFW, and somewhere over Arkansas, I earned the miles that (once they post next week) will put me past 1 million.
I've earned a lot of miles in a lot of ways besides flying (Thank you, FT!). But I found it somewhat satisfying that I crossed the mark with my butt firmly planted in my favorite back-of-the-bus seat MD80 20B, rather than by a hotel point transfer or a credit card miles posting or something like that.
Do you remember what activity put you over the line? Did you care?

No ideas what date that happened, other than it was around 2 years after I moved my flying from UA over to AA. Most of my miles are from actual flying, so likely that put me over the top. Hoping to pass 2 million in the next few months.
Tom still in Stockholm

I do. I was on Flight 114 LAX-EWR on Wednesday and had one of the worst flights I have ever had. The flight attendants started right out at the very beginning more 20 minutes before departure telling everyone no cell phones could be on and then even walking over to tell them shut them off (this was during boarding). It continued the whole flight with at least a dozen annoucements (no kidding) to stay in the seats. Even the seat belt light was off for a while, they needed the aisles to do their duties. "If you want to get served, you better stay seated" was one of the annoucements.
Of course, none of the flight attendants wore their nametags. The level of rudeness reaking from the entire crew was very high.
Of course, years from now I will have long forgotten it, just remembering that I went over the million mile threshhold on LAX-EWR.
The contrast that with 223 BOS-LAX last night. It was a great great flight. The food and service was even better than an LAX-NRT-LAX trip I had a few weeks ago in F!!!
I just passed mine too.

It was nice to have my wife on board with me on ZRH-DFW while making my 1MM on Nov 22. Thanks to FT. I expected it to happen mid 2007, but I guess bonus miles and card miles add up faster than expected. Looking forward to my 1MM letter.
Just flew round trip DFW-CLT got in last night before the icey weather to hit my 25th anniversary bonus for PLT.
I passed it in a very non-eventful manner - a whole bunch of Citibank AA miles posted to my account. Even after my mileage hounding, it surprised me when I logged on and saw 1,000,341 - I hadn't realized I was so close.

i was almost there, grew impatient, went ahead and bought some miles when they were having a special double miles offer on purchased miles- that put me over. i figured that any day the rules could change- not that there are any in this case- !!!! now I have just under a million due to some redemptions- but the lifetime platinum is a nice thing to have and the 4 e-vips are also a treat. Already have them in place for a rome trip in May.
