Old question. But it came up for my wife today (her mother's name was Grace!)

We're booked to FLA and the trip will leave her at 24,996 according to the mile calculator on webflyer OAK-DFW-FLL.

I called Aadvantage and the agent said, no the round trip is actually 4 miles longer, so my wife will requalify with EXACTLY 25,000.

The agent was tickled and had never seen that before.

They ought to give my wife platinum just for her good aim!..

Does anyone know if AA rounds up at all?

I'd hate to have to do a mileage run for 200 miles...

Except 25,000 doesn't qualify you for PLT any more than 24,996 does.

Can we make a new topic a sticky? The answer is fly the miles/segments/points and don't ask about grace. That way we can focus on more important things. Hey, what ever happened to the egg wrap anyways?????

You mean this Forum focuses on important things at times 777Lvr ?? Wow, i must have missed those from being buried in worthless threads.... Ill have to pay closer attention....

Short ~350 qualifying points for PLT- have to do MR?

noob question:

Current qualifying points - 42,126

Pending flight (26/12-28/12)- SNA-DFW-PHL and back on paid first - 2507 * 1.5 * 2 = 7521 QP. Short by ~350 QPs.

any chance of a comp PLT or do I have to do a MR?

In past years AA has allowed 500 points leeway, but that was before they started selling Plat status. You won't know whether they will or not until it is too late, and if not comped then you would have to buy status which would cost more than a MR as well as being unsatisfying.

Rumor has it that they will give it to you if under 500 miles but you never know.
If you can add a segement to your upcoming trip you could guarantee that you'll get it.

The rumor that I had heard was leeway of 1000 points/miles. Advantage Customer Service told me to call back in Jan to see for sure (granted, a little too late if it isn't true )

Any way you can reroute SNA-DFW-ORD-PHL? The extra segment would probably do it.

I'd call and ask. If they sound relunctant, it's MR time.

I'd go for the additional segment, or a search for an el cheapo MR.
As for the additional segment option, I would think the change fee would be less than the "buy status" option...which isn't a sure thing. Sure, there's a good change they may just throw you over the finish line...but, if they don't, i'd sure HATE to go thru '07 knowing I was that close. Not a risk I'd take, but YMMV.

Has there been any additional leeway for High EQM-EQP ratios?

Any way to get 400 mile credits quickly?

I am trying to book a flight next month on short notice with my miles and need to do it by tomorrow in order to make it within 21 days. I am 400 miles short of 25000, and just submitted for my E-rewards 1000 mile bonus, but I'm not sure that will post by tomorrow. Are there any promotions or any other way to get a quick 400 miles by tomorrow, or am I out of luck this time? Thanks!

Even buying miles says to allow up to 72 hours to post.

Yes after the 21 days your expidite fee becomes a whopping $50 ...

Most ways to earn miles (even flying) take 3-4 days to post. I have had hotel stays post in as little as 2 days tho the expense of staying at a hotel far outweighs the other options.
