You can call AA customer service and request original routing credit. Explain that the change of airline was weather related and you should have no problem.
Location: MSP (and will only fly NWA in re-routes if I HAVE to)
Programs: AA EXP (4.5MM), hotel programs as needed

Hint .. using the words Involuntary ReRoute and Original Routing Miles will help you.
You should get the PDX-DFW miles.
Tho that said .. the one time it happened to me YVR-ORD-MSP and then rebooked on YVR-MSP on another airline . AA gave me the YVR-MSP miles (without the connection).
Using the 'key words' will help you get what you deserve.

Just glad you got to DFW!
Even though I didn't get home until 3:00 this morning, I was sure glad too.
You can also accept the miles PDX-SEA and SEA-DFW, which is more than the original PDX-DFW.
That's what I would rather have but am I entitled to that or just my original booking? And since I didn't fly AA on the PDX/SEA portion do I even get anything for that?

They will, by default, try to give you what you flew, rather than what you booked. In general, this tends to result in fewer miles, so people call. Remember that Alaska/Horizon flights earn EQM/EQP on AA, so flying Horizon will be fine. You will be given the mileage for what you flew, and you'll be better off accepting the default in this case. It won't be so easy in the future
One option you have is to let the miles and points post - THEN call and say "there seems to be a mistake" etc. But, you may want to keep what they give you - and flying PDX-SEA on AS / Horizon, you get a minimum of 500 AA EQP / EQM for that short segment, so... (Yes, on AS and fully owned Horizon get you full AA EQP/EQM.)

Yesterday my son and I gave up our seats on the 12:00 PDX/DFW flight and were booked on the 3:05 PDX/DFW flight. Just as soon as the 12:00 flight backed out they canceled the 3:05 flight due to weather in Dallas and the next flight out of PDX is the 11:50 redeye.
The GA rebooked us on Horizon/Horrorizon to SEA and then on the 5:05 flight to Dallas that ended up not leaving until 7:00 which is good or we would have never made it.
My question is do we get miles and segments from PDX to SEA and then to Dallas or do we just get the PDX/DFW.
Didn't you get a voucher for giving up your seats or some other form of compensation for not taking your original flight? When you volunteer your seats from the original flight, you are then subject to some inconveniences in getting to your destination. I would be happy with the voucher or whatever was offered, but if I "had" to be to my destination at a specfic time I would have not given up my original flight.
On a side note (as suggested previously) wait a week to see what posts to your account before making any phone calls.

Perhaps I'm confused, but why is there any possibility for needing to call? In the unlikely event that the OP automatically gets Original Routing Credit, s/he got what he paid for. In the far more likely event that s/he gets what was actually flow, this would amount to more miles/EQM/EQP.
What would be the reason to call...no matter what posts?

Yes we did get vouchers for $300.
They also had a seat left in F and gave it to us so I let my son have it. The GA in PDX and the flight crew on the SEA/DFW flight were outstanding. As late as it was it was some of the best service and friendliest FA's I have ever encountered. I am going to email AA and let them know how a rotten day with an overnight stay in SEA looking likely, turned into a very pleasant trip home albeit very late.
original routing credit request after online checkin problem?
I was unable to check in online because a schedule change meant that the ticket had not been reiussed correctly. AA said they needed to reissue the ticket at the airport but unfortunately (it was a very early departure) I got to checkin counter too late and I had to travel later. I was also rerouted.
Is AA likely to agree to credit my original routing if I request it? I ended up flying direct DFW-PDX instead of DFW-SAN-PDX with the last flight as a codeshare on Alaska, which about halves the miles (and means I lose the DFW-SAN bonus).
If I do request this original routing credit, will it be possible to ensure I get the DFW bonus as well?
I recently was very lucky that AA made an "exception" for me reagarding original routing credit. I got stuck in traffic and missed my flight and had to fly direct rather that my multi-destingation trip. I think she felt bad because I was stuck on 183 in the custruction mess outside of DFW and she said she had to deal with that road every day!
As I mentioned in another post, the Irish EXP desk told me that I could only get miles for flights actually flown, and made a one time exception to give me the extra miles for my involuntary reroute onto a direct flight as a result of arriving on a delayed incoming flight.
Has there been any change in policy on original routing credit?
Do we not get "original routing credit" if reroute due to weather?
I was booked TPA-ORD-AUS on 11/29, but my TPA-ORD was delayed, so I went TPA-DFW-AUS. When the miles showed up today, I called to request "original routing credit" and they said they can't give that to me if it's due to weather.
Huh!?
