That's what I figured, but I thought I'd throw it out there and check. Thanks for the feedback.

I have reservations for 2009 that will put me at 125,133 on the year, with no more flights to book, so if they remove the MKE-ORD leg I'm going to miss the 125k promo. Should I play it safe and book a cheapo round trip?
That's an interesting question. In our case, we finished the year with about 103K miles (there was no 125K promo that year) including the error miles. Even without, we were at about 100,600 or so. The error was in October, and the correction was not made until the following April. They did take away the RDMs. As prior year EQMs no longer had meaning, there was nothing to see. Had we been under 100K after removal of the mistake, I doubt that they would have taken away EXP since they made the mistake and there was no way for me to fix it by the time they corrected it.

I'd think the same would happen in your case...assuming the correction were to happen next year. Still, I'd not want to test it.

Cheers.

I suppose a $100 RT to SFO is worth the time and energy I'd spend worrying until December 31st. At least I'll get to ride the Rice-A-Roni train.

Thumbs up Re-routed on US Air, but still got my AA miles

Just wanted to report a customer service win! My flight from BWI-DFW-SNA was canceled on Sunday. I didn't ask why and they didn't tell me what the reason was, but they re-booked me on US Air BWI-PHX-SNA. I called AAdvantage today and requested the "original routing credit." They said no problem, the miles will post within 48 hours. Don't know if being Platinum had anything to do with it, but just glad I'm getting my 4,844 miles. Every mile counts.

Welcome to FlyerTalk!

As you become more familiar with our Forum and the information here, and I recommend staring with the FAQ and member-maintained Wiki, both listed in the Announcement: NEWCOMERS: PLEASE READ FIRST at the page top, you will note this is the expected course of events.

This post / new thread will be merged with the original ORC thread -also recommends the request ORC in your PNR when the involuntary reroute flight changes are made.

AA credit for United flight (when orig booked on AA)

Hi -- I had the unfortunate luck of being forced to fly United due to AA delays on a booked flight from SFO on Saturday. I needed to get back to DC that day and the desk agent said that no flights would do so once my first flight had an hour delay. She was kind enough to book me on a United flight that got me into IAD that night.

I requested that I still receive my AA flight credit and she said that she would post it. Does anyone know if this is possible or was she just saying it to keep me happy?

Thanks!

It's not only possible, but many members have had success getting credit when having to fly on another carrier when re-booked by AA. It's called original routing credit (ORC) and it usually gets noted in your record so that the mileage will be granted.

Once we had to fly BA when our original routing was AA. We got our
AA miles (though I had to ask), even though I think we can't get AA
miles on booked transatlantic BA flights (I think)

If the delay is due to weather, then you may be out of luck. However, you didn't mention that anywhere so I'm assuming it's mechanical or logistical, in which case, they'd be more willing to deal with you. I had a weather-related delay two weeks ago flying into Tokyo. I missed my connecting flight and they wouldn't even put me up in a hotel, which I understand. Before flying out of LAX, they were willing to put me on an Asiana flight to my final destination, but wouldn't give me ORC because it was weather. They apologized, but that was all I got. I took the AA flight knowing I might miss the connection because DBLEQ made it too huge a price to pay. Spending a night in Japan isn't so bad, and it was like a mini-detour in our vacation.

Happend to me flying SFO to LAX (thank god not that far as the airplane and crew were horrible) when we had the big MD80 overhaul and they took a lot of jets out of service. When I landed I called the Explat desk and was assured the miles would be there. Sure enough the miles came through without a problem. AA came through with the miles in a very timely manner. It was an eye opener to the difference flying with AA and United. Glad to be with AA.

Welcome again to the AA Forum, Rsherwin!

Your thread has now been merged into the existing thread on this topic. Please take a few moments to review the FAQ a the top of the page, which, among much other useful information, includes an entry on this specific question:

I was rerouted, can I still get my AA miles?

I've got some experience with this problem, and it requires that you talk to an AAgent who knows what they're doing.

The first person I spoke to had no idea what ORC meant, nor did he think I was eligible for the miles. I just hung up, called back, and the next person knew exactly what I was talking about.

Just save the ticket # (not the PNR) and they will have it posted in a jiffy!

ORC on Same day turn MR JFK-LAX-SFO-LAX-JFK 45 min. btwn segs

Hi,

Been a long time lurker and must say, great info. Learned a great deal over the last few months from fellow forum members and finally made EXP. Thanks guys/gals! Being a greedy person, the goal is now ELTRW (earning mileage is addicting - I curse the day FF programs were created.. ok maybe not ).

I've booked a MR, as work travel has disappeared, the 2nd week of December (well actually 2, Mon. and Wed.). Same day turns, JFK-LAX-SFO-LAX-JFK with 45 minutes to connect to each segment (flights start 7:45AM and ends 12:45AM). I'm sure someone here must have done this before so here's my question. If there is a delay say from JFK-LAX (or from LAX-SFO or SFO-LAX) which prevents/delays me from making my LAX-JFK leg (or whatever variation of reroutes to get me back to JFK same day), can I speak to the GA to skip flights and just stay in LAX and hop on my orig LAX-JFK flight (or reroute SFO-JFK non-stop) and request ORC and receive it? Are my chances high? Also Does anyone know if the flights will be in the same terminal in LAX and SFO?

I'm trying to avoid the red-eye as i have work Tues. and need to do the same run on Wed. and then back to work on Thurs.

I need those 500 min bumps with DEQM in order reach 125k EQM (since i'm a noob, i failed to see a slightly more lucrative run of going to LAX connecting through SFO, which would also yield slightly more mileage if i miss flights and get denied ORC, but i now see the error of my ways ).

Tried to search for something similar but could not find the specific info for my intin. and I don't want to make assumptions. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

TT

Yes. AA mainline only uses a single terminal at these airports.

T4 at LAX (Eagle uses a satellite here, but you will NOT need it.)

T3; Concourse E at SFO.

Your connections will never be more than a 5 minute walk, less if you impersonate the proverbial bat out of hell.
