Yeah, I figured that...
Getting a little OT, but the reason I'm so curious is that I sat next to my first CK member a week or so ago--the FA came by and greeted him noting that the manifest had his CK status on it, to which he replied "yeah I fly way too much." When I said "Wow, that’s cool, I've never actually met a CK member before, what did you do to get that?" He just said that he flew a whole lot (very helpful, thanks). He was a really young and, I'm guessing in PE or VC with a lot of international F, but didn't seem to be the kind of guy that controls the travel budget of a ton of people. Appearances can be deceiving though, so who knows...
(except to FT'ers) the fact that aa counts "everything" into the MM count is not well publicized. I was in an AC lounge, and the last person using the pc didn't close his session with aa, showed that over 200,000 miles posted to his account that month (being new to ft at the time) I couldn't imagine that it came from flying; now that I know better, big credit card transactions can easily get one into 2MM quickly. [Does 1,000,000,000 get you exp for life]
Not even close. It would take over 5 billion BIS to get to Neptune and back--if you were able to coordinate with Earth's orbit correctly to achieve minimum distance (and what self respecting FTer would take the shortest routing )
1,000,000,000 would barely get you to Jupiter and back.

Hit 2MM, um, today.
Have the following flight:
6/7-14: ORD-CDG-return with wife in coach (M/V, don't know why the return is different from the outbound).
I know the eVIPs are capacity-controlled, but AA.com currently show 10 business seats outbound, 8 return.
I have had a request for mileage upgrades in for quite a while, but of course wouldn't expect them to clear until the last minute.
Assuming my eVIPs are deposited quickly, would I be best off trying to use them, or gamble on the PLT mileage upgrades? Would a RT cost four eVIPs total for the two of us (I think the answer to that one is obviously "yes" but what do I know?).

I'm sure you've read a mention or two on this board that the seat map is not an accurate indicator of availability.

VIPs and mileage upgrades are pulled from the same fare class, so it's up to you. Do you want to pay the copay or use the eVIPs? (Note: I don't know if you'll lose your original request date if you change the request to a different upgrade instrument, but you might want to check on that if you do decide to try the eVIPs.)
Yes, it will take 4 VIPs to upgrade two people on a round trip.

You will not lose your original time of request for upgrade if you switch from miles upgrade award to evip. The elite desk was very clear on that point when I switched from using miles to using evips for a RT DFW-NRT.
