Name change on AAdvantage account

Hi all,

Has anyone had his/her name changed on the AAdvantage account? How long does it take for AA to change the name after AA received the written request and related legal documents? Thanks.

It took them 3 days (including the day of the fax) in the latest instance I know about a name change being done.

I've also known about name changes being done without account holder asking for such to be done. Example: for certain account holders whose accounts used initials and not full names, there have been a few instances of such being done -- and done without any formal legal documentation of a name change.

When we got married, Mrs. BOSnomad hyphenated her name. She was unable to get the change done over the phone, but the BOS AC took her information (as we happened to be there and Mrs. asked), and when we returned from our trip ten days later, her new card was waiting in the mailbox. YMMV.

3 - 10 days (or less). If not, then re-attempt.

Took just a few days; no hassles. I even had e-tickets issued and thats when I discovered my wife's AA# was under her old last name. AA promptly reissued new tickets with her new Mrs. dougwtx last name and no fees involved.

3 tries over a period of a couple weeks to get it right.
of course, i was changing first name, last name, gender, and salutation, so it's a little more complex than most

You could have had your own Challenge, for AA employees. The one who got it right might have qualified for EXP Desk.

It was just a day or two after my wife faxed a copy of our marriage certificate over. No issues at all.

It's the passport that's funny. They just add a single line printout in the back for the name change. I'd say that perhaps twice in twenty legs has someone actually noticed the name on the ticket and the passport don't match (and then flip to the back).

Agreed - it never seems to be an issue to 99% of "security" screeners that the name on my passport (cover page) doesn't match the name on the ticket.

Can anyone provide a link to the address and instructions for a name change? Can't seem to find it.

Thanks
