MileSaver awards, yes, based on award seat availability.

Anytime awards, that's based on seat availability.

AA CITI credit cards: personal vs. business?

If you have business and can get either or both AA cards: what are the pros and cons between the two types? Where do you get more miles?

If you use them to buy tickets on American Airlines / aa.com, you earn two miles per dollar spent with the business card, one with the others; I think that's the major difference.

My vote is for both. Why not? Twice the bonus. Why stop at just the two? there's MC, VISA, and AMEX Citi AA products. Get 'em all, then get 'em all again in 3 months.

obvious con: multiple accounts and credit inquiries have a negative impact on your credit score. In my case, it's been minimal.

Otherwise, the business AA card gives double miles on AA purchases, and I was glad I had that when I bought some AA tix a while ago.

I think you can dispute charges on a personal card but not on a business card.

Great point Capite! The personal card gives the cardholder more consumer protections than the Business cards.

Mr

Capite hit the nail on the head. Anyone thinking of opening a biz card needs to understand this implication. Business cards do not have the same consumer protections as personal cards. As long as you understand that and you're ok with it, fine. I personally have both. But I'm careful when using my business card.

Ah, I forgot that one - but I use my personal card (or an AMEX card for warranty extension and rewards) for most purchases, the business card where it gives me miles leverage - on AA.

You certainly can dispute charges on the Citi AAdvantage MC business card. I have done so twice, and during the dispute the amount in question was restored to my account as a "temporary credit." I received the same paperwork that one receives when disputing a charge on the personal card (signed by the same "S. Larsen", who must be a very busy person at Citi ).

One dispute was found in my favor after about 3 months, and in the other case the situation with the merchant was resolved and so I notified Citi to discontinue the dispute (which they did, instantly).

I don't disagree with MeLike2Travel that business cards offer fewer consumer protections. But you can dispute charges on the Citi AAdvantage MC business card.

It's a good idea to have both the personal and the business cards. The main benefit of the business card is double miles for AA-related purchases. However, the best deal out there for miles on AA tickets is to use eShopping to buy AA Gift Cards with the Starwood AMEX card. That way you get an effective 3.25 miles per dollar.

I use my Citi Business card only at places that don't take AMEX, and for last-minute AA-related purchases.

Question though: if you pay for your AA flights using AA gift cards (even partially), do you lose out on your credit card travel insurance benefits?

It depends on the card. Most, however, require you to pay for your ticket exclusively with the card. (It has never been an issue for me, so I can't speak to the benefits.)

Sorry, this is a new one for me. Could you provide an explanation or a link?

2 miles for buying at giftcertificates.com through the eShopping portal, 1.25 miles (assuming xfer of 20k *points to 25k AA miles) for buying with Starwood Amex = 3.25 miles

two clarifications. for the personal card, you can get both gold and plat at the same time, so thats at least three cards at once. the personal cards make you wait only two months (at least when i last did it in may) while the three months is for business. thus, 2*3+1*2=8 cards in a six month period, minimum.

edit: just saw your amex remark, i was turned down for amex (excess apps) when i got the three of business visa, personal gold and plat.
