Am I the only one who has concerns with the last paragraph:
Meanwhile, in court filings on Tuesday, tax authorities, airport operators, airline pilots, and bondholders among others asked for a delay of the merger and sought assurances that the reorganization plan would not stop them from pursuing claims against the airline.

If the BK judge accepts the reorg plan, based on the merger, allows it to move forward, what recourse, remedies would disgruntled creditors have? How about tax authorities?
I'm sorry, but it's a little late for the pilots to start objecting...had they not had their collective temper tantrum last fall, it's doubtful we'd be in this mess.

I found it odd and was concerned as well. I´m not quite sure how the BK judge would allow anything to move forward post BK.

Totally agree. I believe the sarcasm didn't adequately drip through in my previous comment.

Saw this snippet on boarding area, thought it was pretty interesting:

“Miami would serve as a great gateway to Africa. We have done some looking at points in Africa, but this is speculative and probably a little further down the road.”

“We feel that we are on par to Europe with Delta and United.”

“Asia is the one region in the world that when we merge we’re a little bit behind. We have a lot of focus on the right places to grow in Asia. We’re behind United and Delta because they have old networks that are part of a post- World War II treaty with Japan so Asia’s been our focus of growth.”

That'll be nice when traveling in the cities where there is no AC - PIT, BUF, CLT, etc. It'll be even nicer when the reciprocal EQMs start. I have limited options on my ORD-JAX runs that do not involve inconvenient connection cities unless I'm willing to sit for 2 1/2 hours in a barbie jet...which I'm not. CLT will be a very welcomed hub for me.

Aug. 13 (Bloomberg) -- American Airlines’ merger with US
Airways Group Inc. should be blocked, the U.S. Justice
Department will say in a lawsuit to be filed today, according to
a person familiar with the matter.
The move will upend American’s plans to exit bankruptcy
through a deal that would create the world’s biggest airline.
The department, in a lawsuit to be filed in federal court
in Washington, will say the proposed tie-up violates U.S.
antitrust law and would lead to less competition in the industry
and higher prices for consumers, according to the person, who
asked not to be identified because the matter is private.

I bet AMR's corporate legal dept is freaking out... I'm sure FT's resident lawyers will weigh in, but seems like a big surprise and potential problem... LCC stock is down almost 9% on the news.

It's taken them this long to figure that out?

On the other hand, better late to the party than not showing up at all ^

What's so different now compared to DL-NW and UA-CO?
AMR stock down 25%!
