Cape Air: New intra-Caribbean partner / American Eagle flights "replacement"
While not publicly announced yet, American Airlines and Cape Air are expected to shortly announce an expanded agreement that covers flying to/from San Juan that will begin in spring 2013. The operation will cover current flights from San Juan to Tortola (currently operated by American Eagle); as well as open up four previous AA stations for AA travel once more: Anguilla, Mayaguez, Nevis and Vieques.

Thanks for this MAH4546. Will these be AA codeshares? i.e. full EQM/RDM if booked on AA code? What about if booked directly on 9K flight #?

If this is at all like the SkyWest taking over AEagle routes from LAX and DFW, the aircraft will be in American Eagle color scheme and titles and they will have AA flight numbers.

Unfortunately, my understanding is that it's a feeder agreement like at STL. You cannot book the individual routes on AA (must go through 9K), but it will earn full EQM/RDM when booked on AA code as a connecting flight.

Kind of related: Are most folks aware that the Cape Air flights would be operated by Cessna 402Cs with 8 + 1 co-pilot seat (when available) for passengers? For the record, I don't have a problem with that.

Safe Travels
I've flown Cape Air out of BOS in the little planes and it's really interestsing sharing the runways with all the larger planes! Something I'll never forget.

fyi - there were massive protests for several years down there about Vieques and the widespread toxic pollution left behind by the US military ... frankly, i wouldn't want to go there.

Same as Culebra, which is another gorgeous island that I hope others don't want to flock to so I can continue to enjoy the perfect, uncrowded white sand beaches and incredible snorkeling. Stay away everyone!
