Changing AA account numbers / others accessing account issues
My ex-wife is crazy angry. ... plotting to see how she can mess me up.
<redacted>
For a number of years I used AA. I was based in Dallas .... Due to AA's password reset options, she is able to get in at will to my account.
Its simple really. If you "forget" your password, you need to simply provide
-First name
-Last name
-AAdvantage number
Now being married to this <redacted> for 12 years she knows this.
<redacted>
So I have had probably 5-6 flights outright cancelled over the past 3 years, another 2 cancelled in mid journey. I would log in to print my boarding pass home the segment was cancelled.
Luckily for me, AAdvantage will send an email everytime this nut would log in and change my password, email on account and any other information.
<redacted>
So today. After the 80-90th time she switched passwords (that is not an embellishment) I called AA and explained my situation. Got a really nice guy who assisted me and moved my account over.
Simple as that. New account, balance and Gold Status moved over.

when you do leave, change your passwords, your log in's and sometimes your account numbers.

... surprised it took you so long to act on this.... glad you sorted it out with AA-- moral of the story-- next time you have another partner, be vigilant about which passwords you will share- like I would NEVER share my personal/work email or any of my airline acct passwords.... many things could be shared and it is your choice, but one also needs minimal personal space
Your post could have been summed up as the above. The rest of your thread is unnecessary for FT.
People really should learn not to air their dirty laundry.
If he just told us he managed to change his AA membership number I would have not been able to sleep tonight - wondering why someone would want to do that.
But now I have read all of his woes - I understand why.
Dirty laundry is always more interesting than clean..........
I had a CRAZY x girlfriend in college who called british airways and canceled a nonrefundable ticket to London after a huge fight the night before I left. I didn't know until I showed up at the counter and had to put about $1500 on my credit card to get the ticket reinstated. Don't know why I stayed with her so long. I knew it was she instantly when they told me it had been canceled.
My advice - don't date or marry crazy people.
