So yesterday my SO surprised me by snagging first class award tickets DFW-ANC over Memorial Day weekend. I went and checked and was surprised to find the service operated by a domestic 757. That got me thinking and at just under 7 hours flying time and just over 3,000 miles is this the longest route operated by this aircraft type? I know the internationally configured 757's fly longer to Europe but that first class beats the domestic configured one.
I flew ORD-ANC in 1st, summer of 2010 in the domestic 757. Painful seats for a long flight, could not help but wonder if a exit row in coach would of been more comfortable.
Does AA still fly DFW-ANC? I tried including DFW-ANC on my RTW ticket this June, 2013 and could not find the flight at all. I am aware it's always been seasonal but I called the EXP desk and they also said that for 2013 the AA fight is discontinued and the only option is on Alaska Airlines.
I don't know if it is the longest, but it definitely is VERY uncomfortable even in "first" class. I shudder to think what the coach seats must feel like on that long a flight.
Yes, a dismal flight. I took it as an overnight flight from ANC to DFW. Never again.
I do MIA-LPB (La Paz, Bolivia) and VVI (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) - MIA once or twice a year on the domestic version of the 757. They are 3020 and 3210 miles respectively. The MIA-LPB is overnight and is pretty crummy in business class. The day flight back from VVI to MIA is not as bad since I generally don't want to sleep on that flight, but very long indeed for those old seats. The only good thing is that if you book well in advance, you can get a discounted "I" fare in business class for barely more than economy class. The seats and the in flight service reflect that. I got "lucky" on my most recent trip because the flight from VVI to MIA was severely delayed and I was subsequently sent to Sao Paulo, then home on Delta aboard a 767 with fully flat seats in business class.
The domestically configured 757s regularly fly to some South American cities. DFW-LIM is 3,374 and there may be longer South American routes.
Longest route on a 757 to SA is MIA-ASU at 3824 mi (8 hours 5 min in those seats - ouch!). After that the only destinations further on are SCL and EZE which are served by either 767 or 777.

It's still in the timetable and bookable on aa.com. If it's not in the current timetable when you book RTW segments you'll have to have the RTW reissued once it appears.
