I am trying to weigh the benefit of AA J v. BA WT+ for a soon to be taken TATL. I've flown AA J before and wasn't all that impressed. I know that the seats are more comfortable, but I'm debating if it is really worth it to come into LHR T3 and head to T5 with only about an hour and half layover. I am leaning toward BA WT+ and some increased time in the Flounge. Anyone has a more recent experience than my sketchy memory of both? (Lately I've been on BA a lot more than AA for TATL). If it makes a diff, the AA flight and the BA flight are both on 777s.
I'd take the transfer in a heartbeat.
The only reason why I would think someone might not want to is for BA tier points (or whatever system they are using now).
AA J is nothing special, but for an overnight flight I'd do it in a heartbeat. The transfer between terminals is annoying but really only about half an hour of inconvenience. Well worth it relative to a much better chance to sleep on the flight.

Full BA TP would still be earned if the OP is purchasing AA J.
I, personally, would much prefer to take AA J and make the transfer. You list your home airport as EWR, so not sure whether the extra time getting to JFK for the AA flight is a factor for you. Also, if you did decide to do BA WT+ then I'd strongly suggest the daily 763 flight. True the interior is older, but the 2x2x2 WT+ configuration is pretty much like F on a domestic-only widebody (UA and DL operate such configurations) and it won't take a year to get off the plane as it would on the 777 (since the BA 763 uses 2L and it's right in front of WT+).

Thanks!
BA 744 is better than 777.
How are you getting into AA J? eVIP?

Unless you have some severe mobility constraints, then I can't imagine even asking this question. J is going to beat any PE product. Period. And for a TATL flight, I would happily go from EWR to JFK to get J.

Even on day flights it's worth it after the long drive from YUL to BOS...

Firstly, presume you mean going from T5 to T3? All AA flights leave out of T3.
Of course the journey is worth it. You just follow the flight connections signs. It's not much more difficult than a T5 to T5 connection (other than a short bus ride).

Not familiar with ex-CAN TATL flights but I'm also having a hard time imagining that the price difference could be that substantial so as to justify such a longer drive (absent perhaps an entire group traveling). Of course, as I said, I am not familiar with this so would be happy to be enlightened.
