Admirals Club 1 day pass and 30 day membership questions >=2012 (consolidated)
The American Airlines Admirals Club offers, in addition to annual memberships based on an annual fee that varies depending on AAdvantage status, two kinds of passes that may be purchased at the Club, an AA kiosk, by calling Admirals Club Member Services at +1.800.237.7971 or online.
Passes / 30 day memberships described below are printed proofs of purchase, and do not include membership cards nor access to other airline clubs except in extremely limited circumstances (e.g. Sakura Lounge in FRA if departing on AA that day). A valid pass and identity document must be presented for admission. Passes endorsed to an individual are not transferable. Admirals Club passes are not valid for Flagship Lounges.
Pass purchases may be used toward annual memberships purchased within 30 days.
A list of lounge locations and amenities (e.g. showers) can be seen here.
Caveats: ● Bulleted items only are quoted directly from aa.com. The terms and conditions from AA could supersede the information in this post.
Admits one adult (no adult guests) (and up to three children) to every Admirals Club the passholdermay be able to access during one day, such as on a multiple-stop itinerary; this includes the first stop the following day if on an overnight flight (e.g. HNL-ORD overnight, the passholder is entitled to use the ORD Club on arrival). The passholder does not have to be flying American Airlines that day, merely have access to the Club location (e.g. airside). See more in Terms and Conditions below.
● One-Day Pass charge is $50* (online only) per Visitor
● One-Day Pass can be used at multiple lounge locations throughout your day of travel
● If the One-Day Pass holder becomes an Admirals Club member within 30 days of use of the One-Day pass, $50 may be applied toward a new annual membership
● Several convenient ways are offered to purchase an Admirals Club One-Day Pass. You may purchase your One-Day Pass online, at any Admirals Club location or at any airport Self Service Check-in machine
● Present the printed One-Day Pass confirmation along with a valid government-issued ID to the attendant for access to the lounge
● Purchaser does not need to be the visitor. You may purchase a One-Day Pass for someone other than yourself
Quote:
Thirty Day Membership (Can purchase online from here, but must log on with AAdvantage number; must have AAdvantage card or number for admission.)
● If you have several upcoming trips, a 30-Day Membership has the same benefits as above PLUS all the great benefits of our annual members, but are limited to only a consecutive 30 day period.
● 30-Day Pass charge is $99 per Visitor* (but it allows guests like a regular Admirals Club member);
● Within 30 days of the expiration of the 30 day membership, an annual membership may be purchased at the renewal rate based on current AAdvantage® tier level with applicable promotion code. If annual membership is purchased after the 30 day period, new annual membership rates apply.
As a membership, the 30 Day Membership should allow up to two guests or immediate family (spouse, domestic partner and/or children under 18 years of age) may accompany the member. The Club staff normally do not disallow more than one child if two adults are traveling together; this has been verified by a member or two, but does not seem to show easily in Terms and Conditions. All normal Admirals Club Terms and Conditions should apply, less issuance of a card, which may be required for entry by lounges with which AA has reciprocal lounge access privileges.
Full Admirals Club Terms and Conditions (should apply to 30 day members, other than card issuance). The Membership Guide is currently not available online due to an aa.com error.
Note: Members are able to contact Admirals Club Member Services (see above) 24 hours in advance even when not flying and request gate passes for themselves and others meeting at an Admirals Club for business purposes. These usually consist of a ginned up boarding pass for a non-existent flight that can be retrieved at an AA kiosk or ticket desk, which will satisfy the TSA. As 30 day members presumably have all membership entitlements, this should presumably work for them as well. Further discussion on non-flight day access can be found in this thread.
Admirals Club merchandise:
* An Admirals Club blanket in case are available for purchase at the ORD Club.
* An Admirals Club a travel fitness kit is available for purchase at the LAX Club.

Admirals Club Day Pass
I am thinking of picking up 2 day passes from Ebay. I'm guessing a majority of these are from Citi or some other promotion? I am a little leery that the pass seems to say that only AA can sell the pass. I know United could care less but wouldn't want to jeopardize my AA account or anything.
It also states one must be ticketed on AA. Is that really true? I always thought being ticketed on any airline is usually fine as it gets one through security. I'd hate to spend money and be turned away at the club because I'll be flying AY I have at least 4 hours to burn at JFK in the AA terminal and thought this would be a good use of time versus sitting in the terminal. I actually have United Club passes, but it's in a different terminal and that seems like a hassle.

As far as I know, anyone with fifty bucks in their hand can walk into the AC. (I may be wrong; I'm am not a lounge lizard.)
Personally, I'd just skip the questionable eBay passes from who-knows-what source and just pay $50, then not worry it will bite me in the butt later.
Lat year, some dude on Delta (flight was delayed) was about to pay $50 to get in a club and I went ahead and guested him. I charged him $40 (ok, not really ). The AC didn't seem to have any issue with him not being on AA when they were about to take his cash. Ymmv.

I think the former explains the latter. Every free "promo" day pass I've received in the mail has stipulated that I must be traveling on AA to use it. For $50 "walk-up" day passes, it doesn't matter (as others have pointed out).
I'm taking an AA code share flight from Chicago to Hong Kong (operated by Cathay Pacific). This flight leaves from the international terminal 5 in Chicago. As far as I know there are technically no Admirals Clubs in ORD terminal 5 or Hong Kong airport. But can I use my one time pass at the Cathay Pacific lounge?

Nope.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings. Admirals Club Guest Passes are for Admirals Clubs only. OW lounges are not included. But if you are traveling in F or J, or have OW Emerald or Sapphire status, you will be eligible to use lounges.
I'll be traveling with my family (2 adults and 2 kids) and am thinking about purchasing a 30 day pass. I think we may appreciate the lounge access in LAX and LHR but wonder if any of you vets think its worth it? As far as I can tell its $99 for 30 days. We are flying AA and BA from SFO to LHR with stops in LAX and FCO and BOS.

Thanks in advance for your responses.
Note that this comes with "Ability to bring up to two guests or immediate family members." If you encounter someone playing the Strict Interpretation game, that means one of you isn't getting in. I leave it to others to speculate on the likelihood of this occurring.

This is not correct. The whole family will be let in.

The actual wording is "Up to two guests or immediate family (spouse, domestic partner and/or children under 18 years of age) may accompany the member" and generally includes all the children under 18, and especially so if they are younger children; I've never seen a denial and I have been a member for many years.
I think the ability to get help in case of irregular operations, to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the waiting areas, the access to showers, etc. and in many airports "children's rooms" can well be worth the freight.

Great, that's the way I read it too. Does anyone have particular experience with the AC in LHR and LAX? Curious to know if its near the BA gates?
Thanks so much!
I'm very familiar with the AC in LAX, but I think there are threads with soooooo many posts and experiences about the place that I needn't expound on them in a single post. I highly suggest you try to find it.
I'd find it for you, but I'm too lazy.
To summarize, the LAX AC is one of the nicer ACs, but from an amenities point of view, it's nothing special. The BA gates are in TBIT. The LAX AC is in T4. They're not near. You have to exit security then re-clear.
