LAX-MIA overnight flight in first - 757 or 737-800?
Hi all,
I do not travel a lot in the states or with AA, and will need to take an overnight flight from LAX to MIA soon in domestic first class. There are the choices of Boeing 757 or 737-800. I wonder if anyone here knows which one would be better to take (if there is actually any difference)? Many thanks in advance!

There's a single 777 on this route, in it's one and only international configuration. I generally try to catch that flight... AA252, however it leaves mid afternoon. You'll have a much better experience if you can get on that flight.

I find both uncomfortable for sleeping, but given a choice, I go for the 757. (When this discussion has come up in the past, I've generally been in the minority.)
I do like the articulating recline and seat padding of the 737 for daytime flights; however, for red-eye flights, I find that when I try to stretch my legs straight and sleep, the 737 seat really puts painful pressure on my coccyx. Even though the 757 is far from comfortable, I find that with the slightly wider seat, I can maneuver a tolerable position for a nap.
I find it difficult to sleep on either. A legrest/footrest and a little more recline would improve both, but that ain't in the cards. The old 762s with their 40 inches of pitch in business were better for sleeping than the 757 or 738 seats (old or new).
But, if I get up really early the day of travel, limit caffiene after about noon, and get in a good workout, then by 10 pm or 11 pm I'm generally exhausted and I can generally get 3 or 4 hours of sleep on the MIA redeyes. And then I'm tired the next day.
I am always unlucky when it comes to 757s. I almost always get the tan seat configuration on LAX-MIA. Watch out for those, there are no head rests in F.
I flew on the 737s with the aforementioned seats (both older 737 and the new 737s with the blue/red ceiling lights) and yes.. they are pretty comfortable. Certainly better than MD-80/83 seats
Of note, I remember seeing a 777 service from LAX-MIA. That is nice in either Biz or first for sleeping
