AA will drop ORD-DEL (effective 1 March 2012)

Hi All,

AA will drops nonstop ORD-DEL and it will be no longer served for ORD-DEL due to competition against AI.

This route will be ended service goes on effective March 1, 2012. I thought those route has been done extremely very well.

Sad news to hear for AA to DEL.

Here's hoping they replace it with ORD-BOM.

I think that was discussed once before, but don't think it's viable at the moment, fuel/range factor pushes BOM just out of reach of 777's operational capability. (Don't get me wrong however, 777 can fly the route, but not at fuel/load factors that will make the route financial sustainable.)

So I just booked these flights last week for a round trip in July. I bought coach seats and used 8 SWUs to upgrade to C. The reservation still shows as good. I wonder what AA is going to do?

I just confirmed this with some internal sources at AA. Delhi is gone.

IN addition, AA is dropping service to Burbank from Dallas in February.

and so it begins...

It appears to be true. The reservations have been zeroed out in the GDS. Competition from AI certainly hurt, especially when you consider AA allowed only one free checked bag, no free alcohol in economy.

I know it seems anecdotal at best, but it always seems there are premium seat difficulties because of so many paid fares... I would think the route would be lucrative!
