Besides the normal benefits of rolling over a MM mark is 10 million miles
I understand the benefits of rolling over Million Mile marks past 3MM. Nice new luggage tags and 4 EVIPs. Still takes 100,000 to do Exp.
Between now and Dec 1 - I could get within easy striking distance (under 100,000) of 10MM. I could even get there but really don't need the extra EVIPs at this time.
Aside from the nice new luggage tags and EVIPs is there any reason to push the 10MM before Dec 1?

I am at 837,000 miles currently. I have 120,000 SPG points I could convert to 150,000 AA miles, but not willing to part with the SPG points so easily. No immediate plans to use them for hotels, but I'd like to keep them in my back pocket for the future.
Trying to think of every little thing I can do to bump up my total before Dec. 1st!!

You might make AA executives very happy
More miles purchased = bigger Christmas performance bonus for AA executives.

Was going to wait until I achieved my lifetime status (started May 31st of this year and expect to hit it before D-day) but might as well share now in case it helps anyone. Here's what I did and what it cost. Most of this is still available for anyone < 1MM today.
Total cost on CPM basis is 1.6 cpm, which is worse than I'd like, but way, way better than the 6.4 cpm I redeem at
Apologize that it's hard to read. Thank Excel:

This is pretty aggressive! Do I really see 15 credit cards in this?

The announcement had me thinking of ditching the million mile effort, but now this thread has me thinking I should try to up my balance before Dec. 1.
I'm sitting at almost 540K.
Here are my thoughts:
1) Chase the shopping portal aggressively for the miles they owe me for past purchases that never posted.
2) Use the shopping portal to buy nearly everything I possibly can to set up my office - computers, magazines, Drugstore.com, Staples, etc.
3) Open the Bank Direct checking - I have about 60K I can put in there right now maybe a bit more by October.
4) Suck up the hefty fee and go ahead and apply for the Citi Executive AAdvantage MC to replace my current AA Business Visa. Haven't read the thread yet to see if I will get the 25k "new cardholder" bonus, but I see some big spending next year as my business grows so it will help me get ahead. My husband will appreciate the Admiral's club. Hopefully I get approved for this card.
4a) Pay the convenience fee to pay taxes with an AA credit card before 12/1.
5) Sign up for Energy Plus for a few months.
6) Try to get a mileage run in by November for the PLT bonus
7) Take new clients out to lunches at Dining program restaurants.
There is also the 50K Fidelity bonus for those who have never held Fidelity accounts. I tried to get it, but unfortunately my past IRA accounts made me ineligible. I was getting ready to do this for my husband, but now I will wait until after December and use the money for myself at BankDirect. He has no hope of ever making LT Gold sitting on 200K right now.
I really really don't want to transfer SPG points.

You could transfer 100k of your husband's 200k.

Am at 3.5M - Lifetime Platinum for several years. I also got the Maaya email...
I truly wish everyone here much success re: the great Dec 1 race..
My challenge is a bit different than most here:
28 segments left to go for EXP this year...
(Its easier if I think of it as 7 more roundtrips with conenctions)....

Are there connections from DFW?? Just think how many connections you would have if you had to get to DFW first!!

I don't think anyone's mentioned the ability to ShareAAMiles. Theoretically, if 2 people who were looking to hit LT status, person A can transfer 15K miles to person B. Person B can transfer 15K miles back to person A. Each person spends $180 with a net gain of 0 miles, but lifetime miles will be 15K miles higher. Not that I want to spend $180 for 0 miles, but an idea for those who are close to the threshold.
So if someone wants to start from -0- all they need is 67 people to share 15k with them (and back)?

"Using the shareAAmiles program, each AAdvantage member is limited to receiving no more than fifteen thousand (15,000) AAdvantage miles, and may transfer no more than sixty thousand (60,000) AAdvantage miles out of their AAdvantage account in a calendar year"
Its an interesting idea but it will not work. You can at most get 15k for the whole year.

I am currently at 930,029 and starting to get concerned. I had thought of buying 40K and getting 10K bonus. That would put me within striking distance. Prepaying some recurring expenses with gift cards might have put me over the top but it would have been close. I had previously received bonuses for two Citi cards (I still have and use) and just assumed that it would be futile to apply for another, ever.
Then lightning struck and I saw this link: http://millionmilesecrets.com/2011/0...vantage-miles/ The phrase that caught my eye was "However, in my experience, churning Citibank AAdvantage credit cards is possible, but you have to wait for at least 18 months since the last successful approval to reapply." I knew it had been 18 months, so I took a chance...and got my approval with 75K miles (as soon as I spend $1,500 in 6 months). So...it looks like I'll make it!!!

Actually, if you act quick, you can get another 75K miles by applying for the AMEX card. If you apply for both of them at the same time, you can get both the bonuses since the system doesn't seem to realize that you've submitted a prior application.
I wrote about my experience with the 18 month rule (confirmed by some readers) in this post on churning AA cards.
And in 65+ days, you could get the business card as well!

I have applied for the the Citi Visa Signature card couple of days ago. However it got rejected today by saying I am not eligible. I have 2 other Citi Visa and Master cards currently in good standing.
