I had purchased a "V" ticket a few months ago. The agent advised me that if I wanted to cancel my reservation, the entire value of my ticket could be applied toward another reservation (minus a $150 change fee). In reliance on this information, I decided to cancel.
Yesterday, I tried to use the value of the ticket but found that I could not book it online, only with a phone AA ticket agent. He said there would be another $25 phone service charge. This is new time, because last time was using the value of an unflown ticket, I was charged only the change fee... not the telephone fee.
So basically the TRUE penalty for changing your reservation isn't $150, it's $175 right? Has anyone found another good way to do this?
