I've had similar problems with the mobile check in.
When I try to check in through my blackberry browser, I don't have the check-in button appear as an option.
When I check in online, my BP link is e-mailed to me as plain text (not as a link) so I have to tease out the hyperlink and manually paste it into my browser.
Certainly not a huge problem but figured I would note it.
Great! Working on a FAQ entry for this and have a few questions:
1) Can someone describe where the scanner is in the self-service kiosks in the Bag Drop area? I've never used it myself.
2) Can someone confirm whether or not the checkin process blocks the mobile BP option if any single airport in your itinerary is not equipped to accept them?

Thanks, hillrider and brp!
The full list (with 12 newly designated airports appended) has been revised in Post #7, information from aa.com added, and posts asking when XYZ will be added and replies deleted for member ease of use. Let's please keep this thread clean and lean (additions and deletions) so members can use it without wading through lots of "when will XYZ be added?" and the like.
Please - before you post to this thread of listings of MBP capable airports, check the existing threads to see if one of those may answer your questions or fit your concern better. In addition to numerous threads regarding Mobile Boarding Passes, there are:

Exact same thing happened to me, TSA scanned just fine, the gate did not. As a cautious person I had also printed out a kiosk BP just as a plan B.
Except that the BP is not actually needed at the gate. If that scan fails, they just ask for seat number and all is good. The valid scan is only needed for TSA. So, I always have a paper copy for the first flight of the trip, in case of TSA glitch. I then avoid wasting more paper by not having one for subsequent flights since it simply isn't necessary.
