Question The Change in Upgrade Points

I just went over ANA's website, thru AMC section, I just found out that ANA were about to change system of Upgrade Points. According to the website, the change will take place in April next year.

I read thru so many times, trying to understand the whole new thing. But, unfortunately, it didn't seem like. So, anyone who able to explain it in the easier ways. Would you please enlighten me?

Thank you very much in advance

Can be found at "http://www.ana.co.jp/amc-new/eng/prem_up.html"

Hmm, looks to me that while previously when you reach a certain status, the number of upgrade points you get was fixed to a certain amount, now basically the more miles you earn, the more upgrade points you get.

On the other hand the number of upgrade points needed to go from one class to another has also changed from a simple 1 point for domestic and 2 points for international, to 4,5,7,8 or 15 depending on where you fly and what class you want to upgrade to.

For example getting to Platinum gets you:

in 2008, 6 upgrade points worth:
6 domestic upgrades or
3 international upgrades

in 2009, 20 upgrade points to start with
(and up to 40 points depending on how much you fly) worth:
5 (and up to 10) domestic upgrades
4 to 8 upgrades to business on flights to China/Asia
2 to 5 upgrades to first on flights to China/Asia
2 to 5 upgrades to business on flights to Europe/America
1 to 2 upgrades to first on flights to Europe/America

A clear drastic downgrade of the value of your points !
