Many western customers on FT reported absolutely fantastic experience with NH F except the person who replied to you in this thread and said he concur. He is a well known ANA basher, not a Western customer and is with little credibility in this forum, so his comments re: NH should be taken with a grain of salt.
Beware of your comment !
I had never said NH is bad or worst, I am just using "Asian eye on an asian airline", also with my general experience through flying F long haul and short haul on SQ, NH, OZ, and UA and make my comments, if you want credibility, do you need a photo copy of all my boarding passes ?
All my comments previously are true, e.g. F cannot keep their PJ on NH while SQ and OZ can, maybe some people don't care about this, but I do, as well as many others. NH is definately my prefer airline when flying Y, while there are availability for SQ and OZ when flying F, I would choose them instead of NH. Everyone has their own preference, if you prefer NH than others, fine, no need to call me a ANA basher and making those nasty comments, if you do, I will call you a OZ basher as well, since what you post in OZ forum are nothing but false and negative comments.
eh...sir, Chinese is actually the world's most spoken language by far. It's not English or Spanish (and I speak all of the above BTW). Actually, Chinese speakers > > more than English + Spanish combined...
In fact, some estimates that Hindi is in fact the 2nd most spoken language on Earth. Hopefully, the purser didn't roll her eyes at you for your response that is so obviously lacking in common knowledge...
RE: Your experience on NH F, I think it's quite atypical of most people's experience on FT. Not to suggest it's impossible since a bad apple in a bunch is not so difficult to believe nonetheless, it's more likely that it's a cultural misunderstanding as gleff suggested. You could actually ask for the purser's business card. They carry it and would definitely give you one if you requested. Then, you could write a letter of complaint to ANA Customer Service. I actually have their address, if you want I can PM it to you. You can detail exactly what happened, indicate the time/date of your flight and if possible, identify the purser. I am sure you will get a response.
Otherwise, SQ is a lovely airline and their F is fantastic. I prefer NH over SQ but that's a matter of persoanl preference in part due to cost and FFP affiliation. I saw that you also complained about Japan Airlines in the OZ forum, perhaps there is a definite cultural gap for you here and Japanese airlines are just not meeting your personal preferences, which is quite all right. Different strokes for different people, there is nothing with that.
You may want to learn how to read carefully. I never said English and Spanish were the top two most Spoken languages in the world, but rather, "two of the world's most spoken languages," there is a difference. And, either way, since NH is based in Japan, I don't see the relevance of your comments regarding Chinese and Hindi.
By the way, though I have had rather unpleasant experiences with Indians and Koreans, I nevertheless think that Asiana and Jet Airways are fantastic airlines with gracious, hard-working employees. I can dislike airlines for their bad services, whether they are Japanese, Chinese, or whatever. The bottom line is that I am still able to make rational decisions.
If you notice, the person who started using harsh words such as "basher" was you; ORDnHKG has a right to express his/her opinion.
I was on NH 008 in F today, and the cabin was full. For the first time, I was told that I might not be able to have selections from both the Western and Japanese menus because of the full cabin (I've previously been encouraged to try everything).
Service otherwise was very good, though the IFE selection continues to be minimal. Also, for the second straight trip, it took 10-15 minutes for me to see my luggage at SFO from the time the belt started (this time the handlers at NRT didn't attach F tags, either--I was connecting from a TG flight in F, though previously NH F tags were attached at NRT).

I have also noticed a tightening of food brought onboard NH resulting in FAs having to juggle the pax's choices around.
I hope you will report the fact that the F tags were not attached at NRT as this is one of the good things of flying first is to have your bags quickly

I was afraid someone was going to say that.

Thanks for mentioning this. I did send a note about the F tags. To be honest, though, I'm not sure if the tags make a whole lot of difference, in part because so many pieces of luggage on the belt seem to have them. On the trip before this, when F tags were put during the connection at NRT, I still had a long wait for my luggage in SFO.

I received the usual quick reply from ANA with respect to my luggage and catering issues. They told me (1) the flight attendant was wrong to tell me I might not be able to choose freely, as the flight was fully catered, and (2) they traced the progress of my luggage but can't explain what went wrong in SFO, as my luggage should have been out among the first batch, F tags or not (apparently the bags are sorted into the appropriate containers based on the information scanned from the tags). Discussions will be held!
I don't know how much of what is in the letter is true, but it's always nice to get a personalized reply.
