Given that in any random group of 100 people there is a 99.9997% chance that 2 will share a birthday then being simplistic one could suggest that in an aircraft carrying 300 there will almost certainly be more than 2 folks having their birthday on any given day..
I don't think routine birthday upgrades for 2,3,4 (?) people could be expected as a result...
The only thing one gets (that I've noticed so far) in relations to birthdays is as a AMC member, you will get an e-mail giving you a special promotion code for a fare discount through the ANA website.
Just got one of those a few days ago. A special gift of a 30 dollar discount.

No, unless you could prove to the satisfaction of the GA that you were born at the same hour, same minute, in the same time zone as the scheduled flight departure time.

That's faulty math, but the conclusion is correct: no upgrades for you birthday on any airline that I know of.

I think many people are flying home for their b.day, but try to avoid flyng on that spesific day.? So if a plane has 365 seats, I dont think that means that one person have b.day on that flight. I think less than that.
That's faulty math, but the conclusion is correct:
Yes...you can't apply the probability of any two people having the same birthday in a group with the probability that >1 person was born on a particular, specified day. That probability is lower.
Does anyone know whether there will be op-up on birthday if travelling on that date? Shall I remind the staff at the check-in counter?
Thanks for your advice
Of course you will get an op-up on your birthday if traveling on that date, but you must remind the gate agent (not the check-in agent) that it is your birthday and you would like your birthday op-up. It is often noisy in the gate area, so if they don't respond right away, it is likely that they did not hear you, so you should repeat in a louder voice.

Actually, CX does upgrades on birthdays or anniversaries of membership quite frequently.

Quite odd that you don't need 365 people to match your own birthday. If I understand it correctly.
Not really. Think about it from the other side. Let's just say that 364 random people walk onto the plane, and each has a different birthday. Does that mean that the 365th person's b-day MUST be on the remaining day? Of course not!
It's like rolling dice. You have a 1 in 6 chance of rolling the number five. The next time you roll, you still have a 1 in six chance.

Maybe I would fly NH only on my birthday from now on to see how many upgrades I got, and come back to report.
If NH ever do that to someone who has no status whatsoever, not NH elite or even *G, then I would swire I would never fly NH again.
