ANA Business LAX-NRT/HND Award ticket New Year period
I was looking at the possibility of a Business class award ticket (LAX-NRT/HND) departing Christmas day or later for a ~2 week duration.
Of course all the seats are wait-listed. I only have 6500 miles in my ANA account, so I will have to transfer the rest of the points from AmEx.
Would this be a fool's errand? Is expecting to get an award ticket over the holiday period realistic?
What happens if the wait list never materializes. Do you just get the mileage and fee back? If I use the points and the flight doesn't work out, I would have to wait for next New Year's period to use the points, so that's not a very good scenario.
Required mileage 165,000Miles For 2 passenger(s) *Taxes / fees / charges are not included

That would have been fantastic. Unfortunately I don't have enough miles for First.

You mention that you only have 6500 miles in my ANA account, and you plan to transfer the rest of the points from AmEx. ANA is also a SPG partner, and Chase partner i believe.
If you have the miles, snag the available F now, and you can downgrade yourself later should availability open. the mileage difference can be applied for future trips!
The F could be gone by this time, hot comodity over christmas!
If thats too much, I would suggest you consider alternative transport (paid ticket, fly economy etc.), rather than hoping for a miracle.
