Best time to buy Z seat HND<->SJC

Hope it's OK to ask this here. I'll be heading to SJC in early October for business and am wanting to book a RT seat in business on the nonstop flight. Unfortunately do not have enough miles, so I'm having to pay for this one.

From your experience, is the 479,680 yen fare that's turning up now as good as it's going to get, or should I hold out for it to come down?

that route never gets cheap, so no change if you wait or book. But, you could drastically reduce the price by adding a connection in LAX/SFO/YVR, or arriving in SFO instead of SJC. Price drops by 2000 USD! GoogleFlights is your friend.

HND would be preferable to narita unless you are connection NRT or live/work in Chiba

OP, if you would like specific advice on fares I suggest you contact a travel agent as availability changes from moment to moment.

FWIW, NH/UA business fares to the west coast from Japan are rarely a good deal since they are a nonstop and NH/UA know they can charge a premium. I know some members book ex-Asia tickets (e.g. BKK) as they are generally cheaper and more flexible.
