TYO-HNL is an extremely competitive route and one where JAL still has something of an upper hand over ANA in terms of product and frequencies, so any differentiation that ANA can offer is a good thing for them.

Airbus Receives Parts for First ANA A380
https://thepointsguy.com/2018/03/air...irst-ana-a380/
Apparently originally these planes were going to be used by SkyMark but now it seems ANA will fly 3 A380, being one of them on the Tokyo - Honolulu route.
Very excited for this!

They are planned to be used for the Honolulu route. Probably both from Haneda and Narita. Though Haneda currently only allows the A380 for late night departures. There are 3 boarding arm gates at Haneda

NRT-HNL will switch to the A380 next year, and ANA is building a new lounge at HNL.

Press release is out: https://www.ana.co.jp/group/en/pr/20...0180425-2.html
seat map (8F/56C/73PY/383Y):
key changes include:
- F suites now have doors and the divider in the center pair comes down
- Paired seats in the middle block in C
- Huge PY section
- Skycouch in rear Y cabin
- "Multi-purpose room" at the rear of Y for mothers and babies and quote where "passengers will be able to change before arriving at their destination"
- "Bar counters" in all cabins
Overall I'm impressed… should be a huge step up from the 787s currently on the route. Personally not a fan of the grey though lol

I honestly don't get the point of skycoach. Is that better than PY?
First class to Hawaii? I guess all those buchos will use their Premium Points to give their wives a nice anniversary present...
I am actually happy about the huge PY. I think it is a great reason to achieve Diamond with ANA. Buy a cheap economy ticket and get upgraded to PY. (I know platinum also get that, but considering the huge number of Diamonds on ANA I dont think anyone will be able to score a PY upgrade by just being Platinum, sadly).
Being able to score a PY upgrade is a great reason to spend extra on an ANA economy ticket rather than the cheap KAL or Delta ones...

I would not necessarily count on PY upgrades being readily available. I would guess they see a revenue potential in a cabin of that size.
But they do seem to be heading for a very nice experience in all classes.

I'm guessing it'll be similar to NZ's "Economy Skycouch" where people will be able to buy 3-4 seats at a time for 1-3 people at the same time and have an entire row to themselves. I'd imagine it'll be nice for a couple to share a 3-seat row 'bed' or a family (parents with 1-2 kids) to share a 4-seat row 'bed' without paying for J.
