NH releases information on 787-9

http://www.ana.co.jp/eng/aboutana/pr...14/140724.html

Not much new, though there is a seat map for the domestic configuration of the 789 which will be introduced first. 395 seats will make for a rather tight experience as usual.

They're the same new F seats outfitted on the 787s and some 772s and 773s used for domestic routes. They do the job for 1-3 hours, but I wouldn't to fly any further than that in them.

it seems to me that ANA is trying to go for highest density plan on all of its planes now, is that true?

Domestic planes have always been pretty high density, but it does seem like they're doing the same thing on international routes. You'd think they'd try to upsize the aircraft, but they'd rather jam more seats in. JL has the more customer-friendly approach, IMO...

Not very exciting to see these going domestic only for quite a while. I'd think they'd want to get all of those 763s off the regional international routes as quickly as possible.

Most of NH's international 763s are not that old; most were brought into the fleet in the early to mid 2000s. Most of the domestic 763s, on the other hand, have been around since the early 90s, and I can definitely understand why NH wants to replace them as soon as possible.

You do realize those 763 that have winglets ( the ones have the fixed back Y seats and business cradle) are not even 5 years old right ? Those blended winglets cost extra to install as they are not a standard feature on the 763. Why would NH quickly dump them just because 789 come online ?

Not to mention, if NH put the 789 right away for int'l routes, do you seriously hope a bunch of flights get cancelled again like with the 788 ? How sure are you about 789 won't have any mechanical problems at the beginning like the 788 ?

Will the 787-9 J seat be narrower than the seat on the 787-8? That seat map shows four-abreast seating in every row, while the 787-8 alternates between three-abreast and four-abreast rows.
