Still, as per capedreamer's recent experience.....
All things being equal, choose the flight that gives you the times you prefer and the seats you prefer.

On a full flight on the 773 we got the last two seats in the middle (row 21). They were very cpmfortable and we still got our choice of Japanese meal.
However, service was nice but very inefficient, drinks not properly timed to be served with dishes, one side of the cabin served much later (twenty minutes) than the other, hostesses struggled with English... Training is needed here.
Also, it is great to be isolated from each other, unless of course you are a couple.
We loved travelling ANA to to Japan, but there is room for improvement in service.

Does anyone know if 5A on the 788 (with Business Staggered) has any issues with lacking windows, etc? Many thanks!
-----------
UPDATE: After being presented some conflicting info on ANA.com (row 5 has windows), ExpertFlyer (5K is missing a window but 5A seems to be ok), and Seatguru (no windows for 5A or 5K), I waded through many photos and trip reports until I came across a definitive answer via Ben's helpful trip report here. TL;DR: Row 5 on the 788 has 1 instead of 2 windows.
Many thanks to 24left for her help during this process!

This might be a silly/obvious question, but does this gap issue apply to F/G, and vice versa E to D and G to F as well? Basically can you see the screen diagonally from your seat no matter which middle seat you're in? Thanks!
After some further digging, I think this may only be an issue on the 77W. You can see the D/E gap I am talking about in this photo:
Last time I flew in a D seat on the 77W I was treated to all the movies and laptop Excel spreadsheets being viewed by the guy in the E seat in front of me. Totally kills the privacy aspect. That said, I realized from googling that the 787 seats are different and do not feature such a gap, so I would be more willing to take these "middle seats"...

Throne Seat?
I've currently selected 6F (bulkhead throne seat) on an upcoming 788 flight. Are there any opinions regarding this? I will be flying solo. I've never flown the 788/789 on ANA in Business, but have on the 777, and always was in a true window seat, but all of those are filled for my flight. Thanks!

My wife and I are scheduled to fly a daytime J flight of 8 hours on a 789. From review of the last few pages, it appears that the middle seats are the best for couples flying together (as opposed to a C/D choice)?
Would Row 2 middle be a good choice? Do they keep refreshments on a table right in front of these seats?
Many thanks in advance!

I understand that mobile FT users can't see the wiki.
In it, I posted:

It would be great if those flying on the 788 and 789 could post photos in the wiki as well. Thanks

I don't know how they place refreshments on the 789.
On the 777s I flew, they had them on counters in the various galley areas.
Some of these are from Business and at least one of these is from Y cabin.

If you're on FT mobile, you might not see it, but I posted a collection of photos in the wiki at the top of the page as well as the link to the ANA pages with seat maps for each aircraft

Yes — you can preview the seat map when booking. It looks like the first two NRT-PVG flights in the day are operated with the business staggered 788 configs while the rest are the regional configs (2-2-2 recliners in J).
