What did they match to? BA Gold (oneworld emerald) is really equivalent to Platinum and therefore Freccia Alata Plus, but do they may match to mere Freccia Alata on the ground that it is called "gold"?
In the fax I wrote that BA gold is considered oneworld emerald, and therefore I expected matching to FA+. And this is what they actually did.
good luck

Reason: wording
I did the whole status match application for my dad.
He is a SEN w. LH and he was given Freccia Alata (not Plus).
Considering the miles requirement I believe he should have been FA + (thats what I had asked for), but I was told they only count HON as + which I find somewhat rediculous...

It varies a lot.
Some people reported that they got the match in 3 days (some even without receiving a confirmation email).
I completed the online form and sent the fax on the 15th. Nothing happened.
On Thursday I was in Rome and asked to the personnel in the Freccia Alata lounge about the promotion and how long I was supposed to wait. They didn't know about it, but were extremely helpful; after a couple of phone calls they confirmed the existence of the promotion , but couldn't tell me anything about the status of my upgrade. However, they noted my MilleMiglia number and promised to inquire with their IT department to see if everything was being processed.
On Friday I received an email confirming that I had enrolled in the promotion and prompting me to send the documents (which I had already sent).
Today, still nothing. Just to be on the safe side I sent the fax again.
I suspect - as someone else suggested - that it might take longer to double-check the status with some arlines than with others.
Or perhaps it's just a big mess-up...
I am just wondering if I will ever get this damn status match...
UPDATE: I got the match today (Tue, 24 March 2009).

Reason: Update
Is it common for AZ to send you an e-mail asking that you submit your supporting documents three days after you have faxed the documents (twice)?
I should be flying AZ in a few days and would like to credit the four flights to AZ over my AF-KL FB, as the promo says they'll grant status for a full year with four flights.
Do I get a card which is valid until June after the Status match or is Alitalia (other Sky Team members) able to recognise it via IT. (Which i doubt because i didn't receive a confirmation mail for the enrollment and for the status match.)
I sent a Fax to Alitalia at the 18. of March and then, as i thought they didnīt receive it, once more at the 24. of March. Until today nothing happens. Do you think i should send it again ? I called the Helpdesk of Frecce Alata but they canīt help me - neither they have informations about this offer
Since i have Eco award flights with AF later the year, that card would help me to have these trips a little more comfortable.
I sent the fax a week ago. Did not hear anything about it, so re-registered online last Friday and was about to send the fax again. Logging in to my MM account today, however, I noticed that my status had been upgraded from FA to FA+, even though I have not received any email from Alitalia, so they did work on it even though they did not communicate it.
As of yesterday I completed my four required AZ flights (two were code share, flown on AZ flight numbers, booked via AZ) , two TATL, two intra-Europe. My status has not changed at all.
However it still says you'll have status within 2 days.
I have not received any e-mails from AZ in response to my direct e-mails to them.
...well my documents were sent in 10 days ago. Three days after they were sent in I received an e-mail asking for documentation, which I then refaxed (twice).
This past weekend I flew four Alitalia flights (as required to keep status for a year) , two on AZ metal (JFK-MXP) and two code-share (MXP-AMS). The miles for these flights have posted, but I still have no status with Alitalia.
I have sent three e-mails to AZ's MM program, at clubfrecciaalata@alitalia.it, since last Wednesday (as the status match says status is granted in two days). I have yet to get any response.
Anyone else in the 10 day wait category? I have further flights coming up and would like to use the AZ status to check out the program.

Ha! Even if they meant to send you a card, the likelihood of your receiving it this side of Christmas 2009 is remote: I qualified for Ulisse in July 2008. I received my card in December 2008, accompanied with a letter dated August 2008. In the meantime, I had reached Freccia Alata in September 2008. I still have not received my FA card. I have since made it to FA+ through the status match. I am not hopeful to receive my card before its expiry.
As to recognition by other ST members, in principle the system should pick it up. In practice, however, it is somewhat pot luck. My AF BPs invariably fail to mention my ST E+ status. I have to go to the counter and have them enter it manually. They usually require my card but are happy with the e-mail confirmation/card that AZ sent me.
