You can look it up in the Alitalia TravelDesk (their downloadable timetable) or let us know the date and flight number and we'll look it up. Based on that we can see what equipment they are using. I checked a half dozen dates, they all listed it as a 764. So...
Per italian7's post in this thread, 764 means you have the new seats. Auguri!... Enjoy!

This question was in another AZ thread, but I'm posting the reply here since this info belongs with the sticky.

I've booked perhaps a half dozen promo fares this year on the AZ site and earned DL miles for them. Most of them were L class.
Alitalia fare classes:
First & Business Class J, C, D, I
Full Fare Economy Class Y
Economy Class B, M, H, K, V, T, Q, X, W
Discount Economy Class A, N, L, O, S
YBM earn 1.5x MQM on DL
H, K, V, T, Q, A, N, L, O, X, W, S earn 1x MQM on DL
(note this conflicts with what you saw on the DL site, which says A, along with R, U, and Z, doesn't earn DL miles)
Please help calm my nerves. After reading about Alitalia online I am concerned with a few issues. I will be flying to Cairo via Milan (MXP) from Boston with a 5 year old and a nervous husband on a 767-200 or 762.
What is the final word on electronics like IPODS and portable DVDs? I called twice and heard "NO, never" and "yes, after take off". Both agreed that it was up to crew. That does not give me any peace of mind. Anyone have recent experience? (I am told there are not personal LCDs on this flight).
Do the arm rests move up so one can spread out? I saw a picture which seemed to show they did not move in the A and C seats. Currently we have A, C and D.
Are all the 767-200 updated with new seats or am I on an old plane?
Anyone know what movies they are playing in later July? Is there anyway to find out?
Is the food and service as bad as I am hearing?
Should I worry about a 3 hour connection in Milan?
Are they strict about the 11 lb max for carry ons? I packed a bag with just some clothes for the 3 of us in case we lose our bags but it weighed 18lbs! I think the bag itself is about 7lbs!
Any help is appreciated!

The arm rests do move, but the seats in coach are a bit like bucket seats, so they're comfortable enough sitting upright, but if you try to lay down across two or three seats there is a lump in the middle; uncomfortable.
On my AZ flight last week lots of people were watching personal DVD players and the like. Note that Italians like little children, so as long as your five year old has reasonable manners you'll be treated well. The food is generally fine, as airline food goes.
I've only had my carryon weighted maybe 2 or 3 times in many dozens of AZ TATL (trans-atlantic) flights, and they let me slide each time. Unlike LH, which measured every gram.
Three hours to connect at MXP is a cakewalk. I'd be a little concerned if you have less than 35 minutes, in that case you'd have to walk fast.
Bottom line, and with all due respect, the flight from BOS-MXP is only maybe 7 hours, if your husband and 5 year old can't survive that and keep themselves entertained there are issues bigger than AZ. (note, the return flight will be an hour or so longer). So, enjoy!
hello all
I was just wondering about a flight from Milan to PVG on 8th of september.
I really can't get much info anywhere about this flight so i was wondering what is the in flight entartainment because it's a really long flight for me.
The only info i have is that i am flying bussiness class and the flight number is A790.
Ok so EI-CFD is back.
So now we have
EI-CRM
EI-CRD
EI-CRF
EI-DDW
I-DEIG
5 are now done. EI-DBP is in the process of retrofit, so now you only fly on the old alitalia business class or the new one (no more aircanada ones).
I-DEIB leaves the fleet on the 24 of Feb to go to Varig
I-DEIC leaves the fleet March, April or May to go to TAM
I-DEID leaves the fleet in June to go to Tam
Does anybody know what the new status of the airplanes is right now? I would like to book FCO-ORD in C, but want to know what the exact status is. I have multiple options to fly and thought I'd love to try the new Magnifica Class.

Unfortunately the FCO-ORD, CCS, MIA routes will not get the '764' with the new Magnifica anytime soon due to the length of the flight and union agreements stating that they have to have a special crew rest for flight longer that 8 / 9 hours (I'm not exactly sure).
Anyways EI-DBP when it will start flying again should have the new seats.
The new seats rotates on the YYZ, BOS, EWR, JFK, LOS (ACC), DXB, BOM and DEL.
