Does Alitalia provide Hotel?

I know , I know. I shouldn't even ask. Just double checking.

I have traveled Alitalia internationally 5 times in J class and twice had a long connection time of 20 hrs. Ground crew is of no help at all and I didn't push hard either as I prearranged my hotel anyway.

BUT just wanted to check- do they have such a policy for J class at least. has anyone gotten lucky?

That would be very unusual.

Not sure which airline provides hotel accommodation if your itinerary contains an overnight layover.

There are a few carriers which make it part of a marketing pitch to get you to fly through their hub. By way of example, back in the day OS offered a room if you connected through VIE. Some of the ME's offer a room if you connect through their ME hub.

But, that is purely to get you to go somewhere where you might not ordinarily connect.

This certainly isn't the case for FCO. You are completely on your own if you book a stopover and want a room. It has been this way, with the exception of OS, for years in Europe.

LoL. Well you are in u.s.a so even getting a free coke in the cabin is out of the ordinary let alone hotel.

Many airlines provide hotel for connection time longer than 8 hrs specially for J and above. As long as you meet certain criteria like... No other flight operates that day that could have connected etc.

Thanks and my query wasn't about stopover rather connection.

I know about the stopovers and marketing pitches you are talking about.

I have never seen AF, KL nor VS offering something along that line.

That's your experience. Although I admit I haven't flown those airlines you mentioned for sometime now.

EY also provides hotel to Economy class booking (let alone J) if the connection time is too long. Certainly did for one of family members travelling YYZ-SIN with a transit time exceeding 8 hrs in AUH.

Iberia used to in Madrid. Of course, the last time I took advantage of this was about 18 years ago going TLV-MAD-ORD.

QR does too. But the lowest booking classes of economy are excluded.
