LH have left - EK no..

http://www.businesstraveller.com/mid...o-triple-daily

Three flights a day really is a lot..

MXP will be happy

Italian long haul market is becoming very attractive with limited AZ schedule..

FCO-DXB will also be raised to 3xd. EK is becoming a real monster.

and with 1 A380, 1 777-300ER 3-classes with suites and afaik a third 300ER, roughly 1200 seats/day/direction and some dozen tons of belly.

Impressive, EK is really a great business.

Also from VCE both the EK and the QR flights have done very very well.

OT, anyway just to add some additional consideration about the strength of Emirates, EK will switch the daily DXB-LCA-MLA from A330-200 to B777-200. A 777!

I would have thought it would have been a non stop flight .... On a A320...

Surely makes a four hour flight a six hour flight...

EK has no narrow-body planes, furthermore I believe they manage a huge quantity of belly cargo at MLA, so they would need something 'bigger' anyway.

Back to the title of the thread..

On Tues flew longhaul in J with LH for first time.. A380

Some considerations:

+
good attentive crew
Found seat OK but certainly not very private
Love the A380 - great plane but prefered my flight cdg - yul eith AF

-
Lounge - no where near the standards of BA and personally I prefer AZ
Food - poor and inadequate servings
Wine list had one decent red - full stop
AVOD - no where near as good as AZ a330 or BA. Poor selection of films on tiny screen
FRA - didn't like the airport

All in all surprised.. Really did think my flight would be better. Packed flight didn't help and being in a 2-2-2 configuration really does make u feel as if as u r in a dorm

LH don't get my vote

Hi! I am wondering how things have changed since 2012...is LH still the clear preference over AZ? We are flying a short trip, FCO-MUC, and the business class award options are comparable (especially with the current AMEX transfer promotions.)

Thoughts? Can we visit the biergarten lounge in MUC upon arrival? Would anyone suggest a different award option over LH, just to complicate the discussion...?

Thanks!

What would be nice is if you could fly Air Dolomiti, a really nice little airline. But they don't fly this city pair, not even as a LH wet lease. Don't waste valuable miles on business class, it's not worth it on such short European flights.
