FCO-ORD in coach?

I'm flying FCO-ORD to come home for Christmas in mid December. Coach. I was wondering how horrible this is going to be? Any idea of what plane will be flown/in flight entertainment? I've flown NWA for all my previous transatlantic flights and haven't really heard glowing reviews of Alitalia. Thanks for your help.

You will very likely fly on a B767, however I'm afraid there's no IFE on those planes. I've no experience of coach with AZ on a transatlantic flight to be honest, however I've noticed quite a few improvements on the Magnifica product in the last couple of months.
Hope this helps.

I did ORD-MXP in Y four years ago, so things may have changed. It was bad enough I won't be flying Alitalia TATL again if I can avoid it. I plan on avoiding it.

The seats were uncomfortable: the cushions had seen better days long before I got to them. There was no IFE that I recall--I managed to sleep fitfully through much of the flight. The food wasn't memorable one way or the other. I seem to recall the flight being family friendly, so bring ear plugs if you're not a sound sleeper.

That said, I arrived at my destination safely.

I haven't done it on AZ in a couple years, but I used to do ORD-MXP a number of times every year; perhaps 3 or 4 times up front, and a couple dozen trips in back. It was fine.

Yes, the seats were beat up, sometimes a lav was locked because it was out of order, but food was reasonable, I found the FA's friendly. Generally they depart late and arrive early (Italian lead foot pilots?).

After meal service the FA's tend to put on the seat belt sign and disappear into the galley, but they leave self service drink tables in the galleys, and don't enforce the seat belt sign.

Not sure if the're still using AZ 763's or if they're running Airone Airbusses on ORD-FCO these days.

Having never flown DL, I have no basis for comparison. I have flown AA tatl and wasn't overly impressed either (though $300 r/t on three-days advance purchase will take the sting out of many flaws). I don't recall AA's seats being half so bad. But then, is there such a thing as comfortable Y when flying tatl?

Coach is coach on any airline and it is very rarely a pleasure flying economy

My experiences on AZ however

777
Decent product - ok IFE and a fairly decent pitch. Not BA standard but not bad

767
No IFE but one major advantage if you are travelling as a couple that it is a 2 - 3 - 2 configuration. You must attempt to get 21 A + C or 22 A + C best emergency exist seats. Not as good as 777 however

If you need any other info just let me know

If ORD is operated by an AIR ONE A330 I can't help you - never flown on one..
