Looks good. If somebody in the Midwest wants to ski Mammoth they'll still lose a ski day on the beginning of their vacation, because the morning LAX flight leaves too early for ORD-LAX-MMH or DFW-LAX-MMH to make the connection.

So if all these flights are successful, who will one day fill the gap (MMH arrival ~11am)? Horizon, or somebody else like United Express or American Eagle?

Also, what's the historical on-time performance for SEA-RNO? If that flight is late and the plane is needed at LAX, well, in December it might not be able to take off from MMH (I think the airport closes at sundown).

Looking up our internal numbers, the SEA-RNO market has had an 80.1% on time record going back to August 2, 2006. I just picked 3 years randomly.

I don't know exactly. According to this site it's open 24 hours.

http://www.acukwik.com/AirportInfo/KMMH

But according to airnav.com it's open 0800-1630.

But I don't know if that applies to QX? If QX had to leave late I assume this would be an exception. I'm guessing they only have the airport open til 1630 to keep general aviation from operating (even though the runway lighting is on all night, but probably for emergency landings if needed). But since MMH wants QX there, they might make exceptions if QX ever wants to add a later flight.

I guess we'll have to see what if any traffic connects from the Midwest and retime if necessary. We're pretty much focused on the local market and international connections for the most part (at the request of Mammoth Mountain). Although you lose one coming in, you gain one going out since our last flight leaves much later than last year.

In regards to the airport hours....we wouldn't be flying this schedule if it meant we have to close up shop at sundown.

When QX started flying into Prescott, the entire airport (okay, the one room shack and its one rental car desk) changed its hours to accommodate.

Long term weather in the Seattle area for the winter is looking dry, which isn't good for snow. You might have to fly out of state.

ATTENDED (terminal) 0800-1630. The airport itself is open 24/7. The only night ops comments are;
- NIGHT FLYING NOT RECOMMENDED WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE OF LOCAL TERRAIN.
- SNOW NOT REMOVED AT NIGHT.

Generally, "attended" implies the availability of fuel, maintenance, and other related services. The only practical reason a public airport would be "closed" at night would be lack of lighting. I don't know of any airport that restricts GA ops during specific hours. Of course, like most small airports MMH has no ATC services at any time.

Is MMH the most primitive airport QX flies into?

Anyone been to GUS? It's pretty small but I'm surprised at how nice the terminal is. It looks like a ranger station. If I can figure out how to add a picture, I'll try to load one later.

You mean GST or another airport?

I guess what i really meant by that comment was what the smallest/minimalist airport QX (or AS) serves in the lower 48. Pretty much a given for Alaska. MMT looked as such, but I haven't been able to find too many pictures. Haven't flown into PUW either.

By no means should I hijack this thread, but here was PSC if anyone was interested:

(there's a another portable to the left that has enough seating for about 80 people after you clear TSA, but thats pretty much it)

Curious if MMT was the same size or smaller?

Whoopsie doodle, that pic is PRC, not PSC. Pasco's airport is somewhat larger.

I have never been to PRC before, but based on the picture, MMH's terminal is almost about the same size maybe a little bigger. The terminal itself is decent (opened two years ago I believe), however due to a huge increase in air service next year, they should start considering expanding the security area, holding room (max. capacity is 79), and maybe one food place (something that reflects the area's cuisine) along with a small Hudson's bookstore or something similar. Maybe add one more check-in desk (currently the airport has one desk for check in and 2 self-check in kiosks). Maybe the city/MM resort would rather wait and see how the new routes perform before committing any significant expansions to the terminal.

Besides, I really like the new times for LAX, last year my flight landed close to 5pm and I got stuck in rush hour traffic. My parents dropped me off at the airport 1 hour before my flight and they beat me home . I'll probably take the 2:40 flight to MMH and the 12:50 return flight.
