Will be Gold short!!

I calculated all my remaining trips for 2009 and I will be short 7k miles for Gold. What is the best way to find the cheapest $/mile for me to make mileage runs?

The first step is to post what city/airport you call home.

I'd guess Seattle:

Location: Seattle area

Check web specials at http://www.alaskaair.com/as/alaska/W...bSpecials.aspx, you can usually find something out of Seattle. SEA-PDX, SEA-BOI, and SEA-GEG are often on sale, and you can easily do three round trips on a Saturday to rack up miles.

When the OP first started the thread that info was not yet in the profile.

Will you be short 7K AS miles or 7K AS+partner miles? There are some good deals on DL in Sep./Oct. but if you need 12K partner miles it might not be that economical and time consuming. DL also has "UP" fares that book into A and give you 150% EQM's on AS.

well Im somewhat in the same dilemna. Sure wish I was in the seattle area and it would be way less of a problem. My signature shows year to date miles as of 8-2-09 and Im around 8500 short with nothing else scheduled for the year. But to be that close and still have 5 months to get to gold I'll be danged if Im going to just blow it off

I just made Gold for next year, but where I'll be likely short, for the first time in a few years, is the 75K mark to get the bonus. So I'll be on the lookout for some cheap runs from PDX to get EQMs. Last year I did PDX-HNL-KOA for a mini vacation / mileage run... NWA had some great deals to HNL... hopefully they'll put up a few of those and I can get a couple of those runs added to my tally for the year. If anyone else has ideas for PDX... I'd love to hear.

Keep on the lookout for PDX-BOS-PDX. Maybe there will be some good sales for the winter since no one comes to Boston then. You can get 5000mi in one day. Leave PDX at 7:30AM and get back by 8:20pm

You might check out the fall sales from Seattle that were just posted:

http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix....389&highlight=

Tickets must be purchased by Aug. 14, 2009, for travel from Sept. 14 through Dec. 16, 2009. Tickets require a 14-day advance purchase and day-of-week travel restrictions apply, except to Mexico.

Sample one-way fares from Seattle:

$49 Oakland, Calif.
$99 Phoenix
$129 Atlanta (nonstop service begins Oct. 23, 2009)
$139 Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
$189 Kona, Hawai'i

AS also just announced sale fares to Houston starting at $109 each way.

Looking at it in light of the $350 a/i I got when fuel prices were at their peak, not all that great...

Dude

Not on AS @ that price you had...

And think of your routing options... up to 10K EQM's not bad...

Add on a discount code
